For science, primary 4 have been learning all about plants. On Wednesday they did an investigative study to learn about the different types of seeds you can get in fruit. They had to use their magnifying glasses to create detailed diagrams of the cross section of fruit and the seeds in the middle.
To help us to learn more about minibeasts, we set pit-fall traps. We then went outside to observe and analyse the traps and see what we had caught. Have a look below to see us building our traps and observing them 24 hours later.
As part of our minibeasts IDL, Primary 3 decided to plant seeds and see if we could attract minibeasts to our flowers. We are excited to watch our seeds develop and observe the minibeasts that visit!
Every year, we participate in the Primary Engineer Leaders Award for STEM. This competition asks the question “if you were an engineer in Scotland, what would you invent and why?”. This year, thousands of children across Scotland took part and we are delighted that Finlay Gordon in Primary 2 has been judged an overall winner. Finlay will now be invited to attend a prize giving ceremony at the Barony Hall in Glasgow on 2nd June where he will be presented with his trophy alongside the other 11 winners for Scotland. Congratulations Finlay – we are all so proud of you!
P4 had a great time learning all about the reproductive parts of a flower. They really enjoyed wearing their lab coats and using the microscopes to look at each part of the flower closely. Here are some great photos from their science experiment!
