P4 Explore The Human Body

In P4 today we had fun exploring The Human Body.  We transformed our classroom into a surgery and there were four stations we had to attend to.  Each pupil was provided with a surgical mask and gloves to ensure they worked in a hygienic manner.  We had fun creating and placing organs on our patients.  We studied optical illusions and our heart rate.  Our kidney filtration experiment consisted of mimicking how our kidney filters waste from our blood.  Lots of fun and hilarity was had by all.

Our thanks must go to Armour Vets of Mauchline for their kind donations of masks, gloves, surgical cloth and syringes.

P3/4 Dumfries House

We had a wonderful day at Dumfries House on Friday.  As part of our IDL, we visited the farm and the farm animals.  We got to touch and feed some farm animals including chickens, ducks and pigs.  We also learned about the journey of milk from source to consumer.  A highlight was definitely getting to use ingredients to prepare and bake our own cheese and chive scones.  We even made our own butter!

P3/4 – Soup Making

Primary 3/4 are learning about food and farming.  We have been learning about where food comes from and today, Mrs Houston came into school and helped us to make vegetable soup.  We got to peel, chop, slice and cut different vegetables and then we learned how to make them into a soup.  We have even came home with a little pot to sample!  Thank you to Mrs Houston and to Lynn in the kitchen for helping us.
