Primary 3 – STEM Shoebox Challenge

Primary 3 have been working on a STEM shoebox challenge – to construct a moving model vehicle. The overall aim of the challenge is for the model to move as far as it can and as straight as it can down a ramp. We had to design, create, construct and make adaptions to our models.  This project has helped us to develop a wide range of skills and introduced us to the concept of engineering.  Here are some pictures to show us in action!

Primary 3 – Emergency One

Today, Primary 3 visited Emergency One.  This visit was to help us to learn more about People At Work and in particular, to help us with our shoebox STEM project.  Today we got to see how fire engines are constructed.  We were able to see the bodies, chassis, insides, tools used and the staff busy at work.  Our favourite parts were getting to go outside and use the water hose, turning on the blue flashing lights, sitting inside the fire engine and hearing the sirens.  Here are just a few pictures of our visit.

Primary 3 – Visit To Emergency One

Today Primary 3 enjoyed a visit to Emergency One.  This was an opportunity for us to extend our STEM knowledge and learn about how vehicles are really made.  We got to see the production line for ourselves, including the shell and the chassis of the fire engines.  Elliot, our guide, showed us all around the factory and we were even able to sit in a fire engine.  We are now going to take this learning forward as we continue to construct our own model vehicles.

Leaders Award Celebration of Success

On Friday 2nd June, Finlay in P2 attended the Barony Hall in Glasgow to receive his award for his success in the Leaders Award.  This was a very special event and a wonderful opportunity for Finlay to celebrate his amazing success.  Furthermore, Ruairi in P3 and Yasmin in P7 were judged to be ‘distinction’ and their work was displayed in the Barony Hall the following weekend.
