P2/3 Happy Summer Holiday – 24/6/20

Hello Everyone,

I would just like to wish everyone a lovely Summer Holiday and hope the sun shines for us.  It has been a different last term for everyone but we have managed to come through it.  I would like to thank all parents for their support over the last year and for all the good work you have done with your children during the last few months.  I know I have spoken to most you on the phone over the last couple of days and it was really nice to speak to you.

I am going to miss all the Primary 3’s who are moving up next year and will look forward to seeing everyone else after the summer.

You have all been an amazing class this year and have worked hard.  Enjoy your summer holidays everyone.

Take care and stay safe.

Mrs McLachlan.

Happy Summer Holidays P1/2!

Hello Everyone,

If we were at school this week today was supposed to be your last day before the summer holidays! I’ve called all families over the last few days and got to speak to lots of you and left some messages for you to listen to.

I really just wanted to put up a message to say thank you so much for all your support and cooperation over the last year.  I’ve been so lucky to have such a lovely class and fantastic families who have been amazing.  I know we have missed our last term together and things have not been the way we would have wanted them to be, but I know you will have loved having all this family time together.

I want to wish the best of luck to all of my brilliant Primary 2s who are going to moving onto Primary 3 – you will all do fantastic.  I’m so happy to see all of my Primary 1s returning to my class in August as well as lots of lovely new faces.

Please try to enjoy your summer holidays as much as you can and I really look forward to seeing you all in August for a catch up!

Stay safe and well,

Lots of love,

Miss Stafford x

Good morning everyone, it’s the last Monday of term!! And what a strange term it has been. I hope you are all doing OK. I thought I would give you something a little bit different this week. It won’t be long till we can start to  have a day out with our families so I thought we could plan a trip to Blair Drummond Safari Park this week. I hope you have fun trying these activities.

Virtual Trip to Blair Drummond Safari Park.

Below is a table full of ideas that you and your family can complete so you can go on a virtual trip to Blair Drummond Safari Park.

Virtual Trip to Blair Drummond Safari Park.

Below is a table full of ideas that you and your family can complete so you can go on a virtual trip to Blair Drummond Safari Park.

First of all, have a look on the Blair Drummond website.

https://www.blairdrummond.com/

Can you work out how much it would be for your family to visit?

Use the prices to calculate and compare buying tickets online to buying when arriving. How much do you save?

https://www.blairdrummond.com/plan-your-visit

Look at the ‘plan your adventure’ section. There are lots of different events, shows and talks to attend.

Can you create a poster advertising one?

How long would it take to get to Blair Drummond?

Check when the park opens and closes.

What time would you have to leave in the morning and when would you return back home?

Using the timings of the shows and talks, plan you whole day.   Remember to include toilet breaks and lunch!

The café is very expensive so it would be best to take a packed lunch.

Can you help make a packed lunch at home that you could eat?

Blair Drummond has some amazing lions. Click on the link where you can learn to draw your own lion.

Everyone loves to buy souvenirs from the shop at the end of their visit. Have a look at the online shop on the website.

If you had £10 to spend what could you buy? Can you work out the coins and notes you would need to make your purchase?Would you get any change, if so can you calculate how much? How much more would you need if you wanted to buy something else?

Pick an animal that you would find in Blair Drummond to research.   How many amazing facts can you find?

Share your learning by creating an information leaflet.

We need a play list to listen to during our journey.

How many songs can you think of that are related to our outing?   I’ll start you off with Katy Perry and Roar!

There are live webcams set up for you to watch some of the animals.

Also if an adult at home has facebook, visit Blair Drummond Safari’s page and watch some live videos of the animals.

Can you solve this puzzle? Play with an adult or sibling at home. Who can guess the animal first?

P1/2 Home Learning – 22.6.20

Hello everyone,

Can you believe we have made it to the final week of Term 4?! It certainly hasn’t been the Term 4 we all wanted and planned for.  I really want to thank all the parents for helping their children complete these tasks over this term.  Your effort and help will have so benefited your child so remember to give yourselves a pat on the back!  This weeks grid is supposed to be a bit of fun, like we would have if we were in school this week!  I can’t wait to see all of your faces in August.  Remember to do your best to enjoy your summer holidays as much as you can, you all deserve it!

Love and well wishes to you all,

Miss Stafford x

Primary 3/4 Home Learning – Week Beginning Mon 22nd June

Hello Primary 3/4, can you believe this is our last week of term?! It has been such a strange time for us all and I would just like to say a big WELL DONE for all your hard work and learning you have engaged in over this term. I’m so proud of you all. As this is our last week, I have created your tasks to be a little different to usual. As always, have a look through with your family and do your best.

1) As this is our last week, I would like you to think about and reflect on your year in Primary 3/4. What was your favourite thing about it? What did you learn? What can you do now that you couldn’t do at the beginning of the year? Where was your favourite school visit to and why? What are you looking forward to next session? Below are some ideas to help you get started. If you wish, you could write your ideas down in your home learning jotter or create a mind map of ideas.

2) Can you create an A to Z of our year in P3/4? Next to each letter, try to think of something related to our class. Eg D = Dumfries House Farm visit.

3) Try out the Code Breaker challenges below.

4) I thought it might be fun to create a family sports day for you and your family to enjoy one afternoon when the sun is shining! Think about the different kinds of races you might include. Perhaps you could create a poster for it? Or design a medal for 1st place? Here are some ideas to help you to get started too.

5) Here are some STEM activities for you to try which I think look super fun!

6) If you have lego at home, you might wish to try out some of these challenges. Don’t worry if you don’t, why don’t you look in your paper recycling bin or use some junk to build with instead!

7) There are some lovely art ideas for you to try out too. You can choose which challenges you are going to do and how you will design them. Perhaps you will draw? Paint? Mould? Sketch?

8) Mrs Hill has prepared some tasks for you too: https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/ea/mrshmusic/2020/06/16/p3-4-music-activities-week-beginning-22nd-june/

I hope that you all have a WONDERFUL summer. Please keep safe, look after each other and have lots of fun! I am looking forward to seeing you all again.
Lots of love,
From Mrs Hastings x
