P2/3 Home Learning 27/4/20

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all staying safe and well and are getting outside to enjoy this lovely weather we are having.  I am missing you all but I am sure you are all enjoying your time with your family.

I am keeping in touch with you to give you your home learning activities for this week.  Try some if you can but remember to go outside to play as well if you have a garden.  A daily walk with your family is another way of learning and I have an activity for you this week to complete on your walk.

Take care everyone and stay safe.  I will be in touch again next Monday.

Mrs McLachlan

Literacy

P2 and P3 – Look at your Active Literacy sounds sheet and practise the new words for the ‘ew’ sound.  Practise writing the words for that sound in your laminated Elkonin Boxes in your pack and try to make some new words of your own.  Write 3 sentences using one of your words in each sentence.

Bug Club – Reading

Log in to Bug Club and read 2 of your books.  Another reading activity for this week is to see if you can find any ‘ew’ words in your reading book or choose a book you might have at home and see if you can find any ‘ew’ words and list them.

Writing

We have been learning about ‘adjectives’ in class and for your writing this week I would like you to try  ‘Describe the Monster’ activity.  I have attached the link below for this sheet and you have a word bank of adjectives you can use in your writing to describe the picture of the monster.  Remember to write in sentences using capital letters and full stops.  If you can’t print the sheet you could make up your own adjectives to describe a monster but remember to write in sentences.

Numeracy

Use Topmarks, Hit the Button link below to practise doubles.  Start with the lower ones then see how high you can go.  P3’s could try the division section to keep practising this at home.  We have done this in class.

Keep using laminated boards to try addition and subtraction calculations at home, ask a family member to make some sums for you.  Remember you can use a number line to help you if you need to.

We are going to be learning about Data Handling so as part of this you can complete a Spring Themed Tally Chart.  Open the link below to access this and print it.

Stem

When you are out a daily walk with an adult you could go on a plants and flowers hunt.   I have attached  the sheet below and you could tick all the plants and flowers that you see on your walk.  This could be done over the week because you might go different walks and see different plants and flowers.  If you don’t have a printer you could make your own list of different flowers or plants you see when out your walk.  An adult might help you with the names of these.  You might even have some in your garden.

Primary 3/4 Home Learning – Week Beginning 27th April

Hello Primary 3/4, I hope that you and your families are well and enjoying family time together. Please find below this week’s home learning tasks.  Please do what you can and try to have fun doing it but remember the most important thing is to stay safe and well.

Literacy & English
1) This weeks phonic sound is “oa” and your words to practice reading and spelling are: boat, foal, coat, road, float, loan and goat. Some ideas for you to practice these words could be to write them 3 times in your red home learning jotter, put them into sentences or practice spelling them out loud. If you want to challenge yourself further, try to think of 5 different oa words.
2) Aim to spend around 20-25 minutes on Bug Club. You could split this into 2 shorter sessions of 10 minutes if you wish. I have made sure that you all have books allocated. Remember to check for any teacher feedback too.
3) I am sure that you have been watching different films and television programmes. Choose a character from something you have watched and write a character description of them in your home learning jotter. Aim to write around 8 sentences to describe what they look like and their personality. You may draw a picture too if you wish. Aim to include a range of adjectives and underline these in blue if you can.

Numeracy & Maths
4) Go on sumdog and complete the task focused on addition. When you log in and go to play a game, the addition questions will come up first.  Last week’s questions on measure are still there if you have not completed them yet.
5) Go on the website below and practice using money to find change. You have used this website before in class. https://natwest.mymoneysense.com/students/students-5-8/the-change-game/
6) Practice counting up in multiples. Begin with 2s, 5s and 10s and see how far up you can go. Then, try counting up in 3s and 4s. See if you can take this further by counting up in 20s, 50s, 100s, 1000s.
7) Practice finding doubles of amounts. If you are unsure, it may help to draw them out. If you feel ready, you could ask your adult to give you some trickier examples such as what is double 42? What is double 55?
a. What is double 6? Double 6 = 12
b. What is double 9?
c. What is double 3?
d. What is double 7?
e. What is double 11?
f. What is double 13?
g. What is double 22?

All My Other Learning
8) We are learning about minibeasts. Click on the link below to watch a short minibeast video about spiders. https://youtu.be/WUx2qqPUyOI
After you have watched the video, in your home learning jotter, aim to write between 4 and 6 facts that you have learned about spiders. You can draw a picture or a labelled diagram of a spider too.

9) It is important that we keep active and exercise during our time at home. Use the picture below to complete a workout using your name.

Mrs Hill has prepared some tasks for you too:
