P1 – No Pens Wednesday

As we are now at the early stages of learning to blend in Primary 1, the pupils practised making up words using the sounds they have learned on jigsaw pieces.

To practice identifying sounds and matching them with associated words, the children were encouraged to look at the given pictures and match them up to the correct sound in their circle.

We use a variety of different games to reinforce all the initial sounds and encourage the children to identify newly learned sounds in words they know.

P7 – Alcohol and Our Liver – Results after one week!

Well…it is safe to say that all types of alcohol have now had a massive impact on all of the cuts of liver.  Each liver has started to rot and decompose.  Veins have burst and some of the cuts have swelled in size and look puffy whilst other cuts have shrivelled and become blackened and bruised.

None of the livers are healthy anymore and the smell from all of them is disgusting!!  So disgusting in fact that we had to vacate our classroom and conduct our experiment in the fresh air in the hope that it would help to disperse the smell.

This may come as a shock but the liver that has been the most badly damaged was the one that was submerged in the Alcopop – a Blue Wicked.  The Blue Wicked liver has almost fully decomposed and had become sludge like.  This surprised us as we thought that the alcohol wouldn’t have had such as big impact – especially because it looked so bright and colourful when packaged.

P6 – Healthy Teeth Experiment (Week 2)

Our baby teeth have now been saturated in either Coca-Cola or Diet Coke for two weeks now and it’s safe to say the results are disastrous!!!!  Both of the teeth are now almost fully black and rotten – their is also a smell coming from on (and trust us it isn’t a good one!).

After this experiment we can now see just how bad for our teeth fizzy drinks can be and that it doesn’t matter if the drink is a diet one or not.

Keep brushing folks!
