Dear Parent/Carer
As you will be aware the School and Nursery uses a text message system to alert families to events such as an emergency closure, reminder of an event, absence checks, etc. The system is provided by a company called Groupcall who have introduced an App called Groupcall Xpressions App.
The app is completely free of charge and can be installed on your mobile phone or tablet. It currently supports Apple iOS, Android and Windows devices and you’ll be able to receive messages from the school direct to your device.
If you have children in different schools (e.g. CDHS) and those schools also use Groupcall Xpressions, you will be able to view messages on multiple children within the same app.
Messages sent through the App are also free for the school and will reduce the budget we spend on text messages (we spent £400 last session) allowing more money to be spent on class resources.
What do I need to do now?
Please ensure we have your correct mobile number and email address on our school database to ensure you can use the new app as soon as you have downloaded it. You’ll need to make sure you keep these details up-to-date in future to maintain access to the service.
What happens next?
Groupcall have already set up the system in school and you will now need to install the app and login in order to get access to your child’s information. Once installed and set up you will be able to receive free messages sent by the school delivered directly to the app.

Parents can find further information on the Groupcall website by visiting http://parents.groupcall.com/setup/. Only the Xpressions Core Services (messaging functionality) is available in Dumfries and Galloway.
This App is different to the School ‘Jigsaw’ App which can also be downlaoded free jsa4.me/castledouglasps. The School App has other features such as a News Section, Online Diary and File Folders for newsletters.
