BBC Ten Pieces at Home: “Sing with the BBC Singers”

Please see below information from BBC Ten Pieces about week four of BBC Ten Pieces at Home.

“This week’s Ten Pieces at home activity is all about singing! With help from the BBC Singers, your students can sing the tune from Jean Sibelius’s most famous piece Finlandia.

Children can learn the melody line by line and then perform the tune as a whole with the BBC Singers in a virtual choir.

“Share Your Musical Memories with Ten Pieces at Home”

Please see below information from BBC Ten Pieces about week three of BBC Ten Pieces at Home.

“This week’s Ten Pieces at Home activity

This week’s activity takes inspiration from Elgar’s Enigma Variations – offering a simple art and literacy activity to connect children with people they love and miss. Elgar wrote the variations about his friends, using music to describe people’s characters and creating musical portraits. Join Naomi Wilkinson and draw a portrait and write a musical memory about a friend or family member.

Stay Creative with BBC Ten Pieces

Please find below information from BBC Ten Pieces:

The way we live and teach has changed rapidly in the last few weeks. Ten Pieces is here to help you and your students to continue to get creative and enjoy music – whether at home or in school.

From after the Easter holidays we will be launching weekly ‘Ten Pieces at Home’ activities for primary schools. Each will include a Ten Pieces film to watch and enjoy and a linked creative activity that can be completed by children at home without any special materials or preparation. A perfect, simple and easy way to keep listening, enjoying and creating music at this time.

Students, parents and teachers will be able to upload what they have created and have their work featured on the Ten Pieces Website. We hope this will be a lovely way to share work and stay connected even when we are apart.

Staying at home doesn’t mean the music has to stop…

We have put together some simple and fun ideas for how we can all be keeping music alive in our homes. Why not share with your students to give them some fun ideas to try over Easter?
