My Pantomime Review!

PRIMARY 6/7

THE SENSATIONAL PANTO

This year our panto was Robin Hood and The Sherwood Hoodies!

After hours, days, weeks of trying to make this perfect, sensational, we did it! Finally the curtain has risen, the people are in place, its show time… there was laughs over here and boo’s over there, it was falling right into place and I personally think it was marvelous. I also think everyone was splendid whether it was there character or there expressions and they were just phenomenal. The panto occurred on Thursday the 12th of December and Friday the 13th of December. So I would like to thank port Ellen primary for being amazing and just great at doing what they do best.
Main Stars:
Narrator: Morgan MF, King John: Braeden MG,
Robin Hood: Harmoni E, Merry Men: Millie, Dylan, Phoenix, Kayla, Aiden,
Maid Marion: Dearbhla N, Grabbit: Drew B,
Nursie: Charlet M, Bolt: Evie C,
Sheriff: Orla C.

The funniest sounding panto I have ever heard of. The puns were knee-slapping good, the costumes were stunning and the ctors were just beautful. We had a variety of different characters like a panto dame who was Charlet Munro as Nursie Gusset Gerty, and our dashing, smashing, excellent hero Robin Hood played by the amazing Harmoni Edwards, and we cant forget the chief of mischief the sheriff of nottingham played by the fabulous but evil Orla Campbell. As I have said we had an amazing cast like primary 5 being the gaurds and primary 4 beig the main barre boys along with primary 1/2/3 being extra barrel boys.

My summary of the panto: Normal people of sherwood forest are there poor and penniless and yet paying taxes to that nasty sheriff of nottinghm but then the people of sherwood hire robin hood and his merry men. As the merry men shoot arrows at people and scare off cowards they save sherwood from despair and once all of that is over king richard puts things and matters right. There for sherwood is saved and everyone lived haooily ever after, and then the curatin had fallen.

I would say the panto is 4/5 stars.

I have managed to get my hands on a few peoples opinions on what they thought of the panto

Morgan MF:” It could have been better but it was still very entertaining and enjoyable.”

Millie H: “I think it went super well and everyone was brilliant and the songs were fabulous!”

Christopher J: “Even though there was mistakes it was still really great and I would love to do it again!”

World Book Day!

On Thursday 7th March 2019 was World Book Day and it was really fun.  In the morning P6/7 went down to the nursery and read their favourite books to them.  I had to read to Niamh and Hannah. I had fun reading to them.

Later that day in the afternoon we went down to the hall to have a chat to parents and read some books. Then we did some fun quizzes and all tables/houses went up against each other! I was on a table with Caitidh, Millie, Millie’s Mum, Aiden’s Mum, Aiden, Mya, Millie’s Granny and Alfie. We were called team tigers! For the quiz we had to guess the author, guess the book by the cover, guess the book by a character and guess the book by its first line.  After the quiz had finished Mr. Shakespeare had added up all points and the winning team was the Texans! I really enjoyed World Book Day and want to do it again!

Laphroaig Christmas Fair

On Wednesday 5th December Laphroaig distillery were holding a Christmas fair.   Port Ellen Primary were selling a few items such as aprons, tea towels, shopping bags and cookbooks.  Laphroaig were selling candles, photo frames and hamper tickets. In the school all vice captains and captains were allowed to go up and try sell our items but were taken up in different groups. The 1st group was Morgan, Dearbhla and Harmoni and they sold quite a bit, they sold out on 2 items which was brilliant. Then Aidan, Ellen and I (Orla) were the 2nd group to go take over the 1st group. When we arrived it wasn’t that busy so we didn’t end up selling anything. We got to have a drink when we got there.  I thought the Laphroaig Christmas fair was fun and it was beautifully decorated. Then when we went back to school the 3rd group came and the people were Millie, Jack and Charlet but they sold a few things. I enjoyed the Christmas fair and I’m sure others did too.

Props for PEPS assembly!

On Thursday 29th of March was P4/5’s Easter Assembly. Everyone had a role and they all did well with their roles. All the parents helped paint and craft other props like hats, poppies and backdrops. Children in our class were put into pairs and given a propaganda poster to recreate by hand drawing it. We all had fun preparing for the assembly and we all had fun doing the assembly. When we were doing our propaganda posters  people took almost 4 different days  to finish their propaganda posters and most of them looked brilliant. When our giant poppies were all made we researched soldiers that  we found information about them and wrote it down. Then Miss Brown had put it down on the giant poppies because Miss Brown had laid them down on stage so at the end one by one we would go pick up a poppy and read out what it said to the audience. We had much fun doing and practising the assembly and we are doing it again this year for others that had not seen it. People found it very emotional hearing about the people from Islay that had died.
