SCHOOL HOUSES

Port Ellen Primary School has a three house system in school around which different activities are based.  Everyone belongs to either Nave, Texa or Orsay houses, the names based on small islands to be found off the coast of Islay.

The houses compete for the house cup, awarded at the end of each year to the house that has earned the most points.  Points can be earned in many different ways.  In Port Ellen we regularly give points for polite, kind and thoughtful behaviour shown by children to others.  Special achievements in and out of school can earn points for your house, as can excellence in your work.  Many house points are earned at sports events like the swimming gala and sports championships.

Each year house captains and vice captains are P6&7. These people are then responsible for tracking house points and other duties in school like cloakrooms, lines and school dinners.
