As part of Seachdain na Gàidhlig (Gaelic Week), our school came together to develop our Gaelic language skills through a whole-school learning activity. Pupils focused on building and using Gaelic vocabulary for parts of the body while taking part in a Gàidhlig Beetle Drive. As they built their beetles, learners practised saying and recognising the words ceann (head), sùilean (eyes), beul (mouth), corp (body), casan (legs), and iadhairean (antennae). Throughout the activity, pupils were encouraged to say the words aloud, support one another with pronunciation, and build confidence in using new language. This learning links to 🌍 UNCRC Article 29, which highlights that education should develop respect for a child’s own cultural identity, language and values.
