P5 pupils at Dalintober PS held their annual Oxfam ‘Bring and Buy’ Sale last week and raised over £300. The class sold goods and acted as personal shoppers for the younger children. One of the highlights was the nail bar that parent helpers and Campbeltown Grammar School pupils helped with.

Colgrain Primary Christmas Fayre
The Primary 6 and 7 pupils at Colgrain Primary School held a very successful enterprise event on Friday 12th December. As part of their enterprise education they planned and ran a Christmas café and crafts morning in the school hall. Pupils in the school had been busy making a range of Christmas decorations and crafts which sold out on the day. As well as the crafts there was a table heaving with delicious home baking, a very popular tombola, competitions and a second hand book stall.

‘Lots’ of News from St Andrew’s!
St Andrew’s Primary School’s Third Green Flag!
St Andrew’s Eco Committee met with Paula Love, the Eco Schools Assessor, and informed her of all the hard work put in by the pupils, staff, parents and community members to maintain the Eco School status. After an initial meeting to discuss what has been happening in our school, from weekly litter picking duties to organised days like UNICEF’s Day of Change, the Eco Committee sang our Eco Code; complete with the newly choreographed actions.

Kirn Primary Presents Cheque to EnviroKirn
Pupils at Kirn Primary presented Mrs. Marion Morrison of EnviroKirn with a cheque for £60. This money was raised by pupils at Kirn on their recent “Green Day”.
Kirn’s Eco Committee is made up of pupils from P2 to P7, who meet regularly to think of ways to raise awareness of environmental and community projects which are ongoing in and around Kirn.
St Andrew’s Day Celebrations at St Joseph’s!
A great day was had by all at St. Joseph’s School as St. Andrew’s Day was celebrated in style. Everyone had been invited to come to school wearing some tartan at a charge of £1 per person – an initiative which helped raise funds for the school. Then everyone packed into the assembly hall to watch each class perform a Scottish song or dance. There was quite a genre of singing on offer from ‘Ali Babi’ by the pre-5 children to ‘The Song of the Clyde’ by P6.

Kilmartin P.S. Children Charity Success
Over recent weeks, the children at Kilmartin P.S. and Nursery have been working hard and having fun raising money for some very important charities. Porridge Day in the Woods raised £35 for Mary’s Meals, Wear Pink Day for Breast Cancer raised an amazing £86.69 and £65 was raised for the Earl Haig Poppy Appeal. Altogether that makes a grand total of £186.69 given to charities this term. Not bad at all for a ‘wee’ school! Thanks to all of the parents and members of our local community who gave so generously. Charity boxes from Lochgilphead.
Lochgilphead High School 5/6 PDA gave 19 shoe boxes to charity. They chose a variety of age groups and collected items to fill the shoe boxes. Pupils in Dunoon Grammar School are celebrating the success of a song released to commemorate the centenary of World War 1. (see below to hear the fabulous song)
Arlene MacKechnie (15) and Abigail Pryde (17) from the Argyll and Bute school published a version of Eric Bogle’s iconic song ‘No Mans Land’ on Social Media on Remembrance Day, 11 November, 2014 – a version of the song that Eric himself has described as ‘truly truthful and emotive’.

RNLI sale at North Bute Primary School
Primary 6,7 at North Bute Primary School organised a Bring and Buy sale to raise money for the RNLI. They had a wonderful day and parents and members of the local community came to support the event. We had a book stall, a toy stall, bric-a-brac RNLI souvenirs, nail painting, loom band creations, face painting and competitions. All of the pupil’s enterprising ideas and efforts were rewarded with a grand total of £800 for the RNLI.
DGS FUN RUN FUND TO BE USED TO HONOUR KARRA
On Thursday 25th September 2014, over 700 pupils and staff of Dunoon Grammar School participated in the Karra Downie charity fun run. Pupils across the school collected sponsors, Alana Scott, Claire Black, Caitie & Sam Esler and Lee Sharp all raised the most amount of money and will be receiving a medal for their efforts.
All the money raised was collected to make an exceptional total of over £9,500.

Dunoon Grammar School Race Night
Pupils at Dunoon Grammar School are putting the final touches to what will be a fun and exciting night on Saturday 22nd November at their race night taking place in Cowal Golf Club.
There are many opportunities for success on the night with prizes to be won on the races, raffle and other competitions that will be available on the night. Entry is free and DGS would like to extend the invite to everyone in the whole community.
The event will help to raise funds for the Gaelic trip to Canada in March 2015.
Friday Fourteenth Fundraising at Dalintober PS
Pupils, staff and parents of Dalintober PS donated generously for two charities on Friday 14th November. A ‘Superhero’/Non-uniform day took place for ‘Children In Need’, with several classes holding additional individual fundraisers, including a P7 Talent Show won by the Boys’ Macarena Movers.

Pudsey Fun for Children in Need at Kirn
The Assembly Hall was the place to be to take part in Pudsey Day activities and raise money for Children in Need.
Kirn School was bursting with Super Heroes! Some you may have heard of like Wonder Woman, some you may not have, but Super Swimmer, Brainy Girl and Rugby Boy are all definitely Super.
Strone Primary School Superheroes for a day!
From Wonder Woman to Superman, Batman to Super Gran, Strone Primary School pupils dressed up as Superheroes for Children in Need. From donations and sales of Pudsey merchandise £95.00 was raised for the charity.
Well done everybody!
PINK FRIDAY
October is Breast Cancer awareness month and one of the suggestions to raise money is to hold a Pink Friday. The staff in Argyll House rose to the challenge, and paid a pound to wear something pink. The staff baked and contributed prizes to help support the day. As well as a bake sale, there was a raffle and lots of other prizes to be won, including a large food hamper. The amount raised was over £500. A fun day had by all while an incredible amount was raised for this worthy cause.
Minard raise money for Children in Need
On Friday the 14th the children of Minard primary dressed up as Super Heroes to raise money for Children in Need. In the afternoon they had lots of fun with Pudsey activities including decorating ‘Pudsey’ biscuits with icing sugar.
Furnace Superheroes raise money for children in Need
The staff and children of Furnace Primary dressed up as Super Heroes to raise money for Children in Need.
They paid to play lots of 1 minute challenges that were great fun and everyone earned a prize by the end of the activities.
A total of £27 was raised for the charity.
Children in Need
Primary 7s at Rothesay Primary organised a Bring and Buy Sale, held a Pudsey raffle, sold popcorn and Pudsey merchandise, raising a whopping £1060.50! This is the most money we have raised for Children in Need! Well done to the pupils of Primary 7 and all the adults who helped on the day. We also appreciate all the items that families donated to the sale, thank you!
Jump Rope for Heart challenge at Strone Primary School
As part of an action packed Health Week at Strone Primary, pupils took on the British Heart Foundation’s Jump Rope for Heart sponsored skipping challenge and raised a fantastic £260!
The week long programme also included taster sessions in yoga, karate and zumba, wildfire cooking and outdoor learning activities.
Breakthrough Bake Off at Port Charlotte!
Pictured are children at Port Charlotte school dressed in pink for our recent Breakthrough Breast Cancer Bake Sale. All the children in the school and pre5 unit had spent the week baking a variety of delicious goodies and on the Friday members of the local community were invited into the school for tea and a cake sale. Over forty visitors came and enjoyed our cakes and a display of individual project work by P3/4/5. We were delighted with the fantastic amount of £349 which we raised for Breakthrough and we’d like to thank everyone who helped with baking and donations
