Monsteriffic’ Red Nose Day at Dalintober PS

Mrs Kean and Primary 3 organised a ‘Monsteriffic’ Red Nose Day at Dalintober PS. Pupils were invited to dress up and/or come to school with monster feet! Other activities during the day included baking, a colouring competition, an obstacle course and Head Teacher, Miss Armour, was kidnapped! A fantastic total of £454.76 was raised for Comic Relief.

Dervaig Red Nose Day Sponsored Walk

On Saturday 16 March Dervaig children organised their third sponsored walk for Red Nose Day. They walked from Tobermory to Dervaig raising £230, from passing vehicles, in their buckets. They still have to add sponsor money to this fabulous amount! The children appreciated the help from parents and grandparents and would like to say an enormous Thank You to the Bellachroy Hotel for providing soup and sandwiches at the end of this long walk.

Tobermory parents make Bramble Wood

Recently, the parents of P1/2 came to class to view The Land of Me DVD. They made suggestions and gave good ideas on activities the children could do as part of the topic. The following week parents joined us to help create Bramble Wood, which is one of the lands in The Land of Me.

Chinese New Year at Strone Primary School

On Thursday the 21st February, Xin a lady from Shanghai in China came to Strone Primary school to talk to us about how they celebrated Chinese New Year in China.
We had an assembly in the morning and Xin talked to us about Chinese culture. She showed us pictures of people celebrating Chinese New Year and talked to us about the Chinese zodiac, the Great Wall of China and told us how to say ‘Happy New Year’. Rockfield PS athletics competition in Atlantis

We are very proud of our P5 pupils who took part in the annual athletics competition in Atlantis Leisure. Rockfield had 2 teams in the final, Rockfield A and Rockfield B, and we are delighted to say that our B team won first place in the competition and our A team came second! The children worked very hard to improve their skills and should be very proud of their achievements

Red Nose Day at Park

Park Primary School took part in “Dress Funny for Money” on Friday to raise money for Comic Relief. Everyone dressed up in funny outfits and we had a whole school talent show in the morning which all the classes took part in and had a great time! Many of the children also purchased red noses that were on sale in the school and the total raised was £300.66! Well done to everyone!

Dalintober PS Police Station Escape!

Dalintober P3’s flee Police Station!
Primary 3 pupils of Dalintober PS recently visited Campbeltown Police Station as part of a topic looking at ‘Emergency Services’, although as you can see from the photo they managed to make a quick getaway! The pupils thoroughly enjoyed their visit and have written letters to Inspector Harper to thank him and his team for demonstrating many aspects of police work to the class.

On Red Nose Day people at Ulva Primary School dressed up silly. We had a James Bond, a superdiver, a vampire skeleton, a boy dressed up as a princess, a vampire from Trannsylvania, Indianana Jones and a Shrek bird.

All the children did a sponsored cycle circuit-athon in the playground. We did laps for 20 minutes and we were fantastic, especially as it was snowing and hailing!

TREE PLANTING AT KILCREGGAN PRIMARY SCHOOL

Our Primary 7/6 class took part in an Eco-Schools competition and won a range of fruit trees and on Friday 8th March our Eco-Committee, parents, carers and staff took part in a tree-planting session in our School gardens. We look forward to the fruits of their labours!!

INTER-SCHOOLS CROSS COUNTRY

Our primary 6/7 class took part in the Inter-Schools Cross Country Competition held at the old Hermitage Academy last Friday. Despite very cold and damp conditions they all enjoyed themselves and participated enthusiastically. A big thank-you to Martin Caldwell and his team for organising the event and to all those parents and staff who attended last Friday.

Red Nose Day – Barcaldine & Ardchattan Primary Schools

Barcaldine & Ardchattan Primary Schools got together for Red Nose Day on Friday 15th March.
The theme for the day was a Red Head Day with a cake stall and bring and buy stall. Lots of toys, games and books were up for grabs and many a bargain was had. The cake stall was amazing with lots of cakes, bars and biscuits for sale – and they were delicious too!!

Together Barcaldine and Ardchattan’s 20 children raised an impressive £93.15.

Dalintober PS Pupils Play Park Design Ideas

Pupils from Dalintober PS were delighted to be asked to give their ideas on what should be included in Campbeltown’s new play park at Kilkerran. Mrs Alison McGrory, from Kilkerran Play Park’s Committee came to talk to Pupil Council members, who then asked their class mates to give their ideas and suggestions from a catalogue provided by Mrs McGrory. The Pupil Council presented their ideas to Mrs McGrory and is eagerly awaiting the finished design!

ROSNEATH RED NOSERS MAKE MEGA FUNNY MONEY!!

Rosneath Primary School all pulled together for charity on Friday for Red Nose Day. The children and staff had great fun organising lots of different activities in our school Hall.
P2/1 organised a Red Raffle.
P3/2 set up a Cake Stall.
P4 organised a Red Bottle Tombola.
P5/6 made Red Nose Day Joke Books.

Red Nose Day at Dunoon Primary

Dunoon Primary raised funds for Red Nose Day today. They sold red noses for £1-00 and the whole school wore the colour red or had a silly hair style! Remarkably some of the children’s hair styles were expertly sprayed with glitter and crimped! Each class was a sea of red ! Even the Janitor Mr Callum McIntyre (Who retires on Thursday 21st) joined in the fun!! The cake decorating after school class iced red nose biscuits and cakes to perfection!

Rothesay Pre-5 Eco Campaign

Rothesay Primary Pre-5 eco group recently visited their local newspaper, The Buteman to ask for help with their latest campaign. With the help of Alex Robertson, they are going to build an eco greenhouse made out of 2 litre clear plastic bottles. Only its not 10 clear bottles they need, but 2000 which is a very long sing indeed! The Buteman very kindly printed the appeal and with a poster campaign as well, the bottles are flooding in. We have counted 800 so far.

Southend Pupils Wear Something Funny for Money

Like schools up and down the country, Southend pupils dressed up and donated to Comic Relief on Friday 15th March. There was a Let’s Dance for Comic Relief competition and fun and games in the afternoon. We had one or two very unusual characters in class that day as you can see.

Southend Lifeboat Visit

The P1 and P3 class are learning all about lifeboats, lighthouses and the sea in their IDL project, The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch. One of the many activities this week was visiting the Machrihanish Seabird Observatory and the Campbeltown Lifeboat Station. Last week we had a splendid afternoon in the company of Mr Hector Lamont, who was a lighthouse keeper at the Mull of Kintyre Lighthouse. Mr Lamont and his wife were stationed at the Mull of Kintyre Lighthouse about 6 miles from Southend School.

GO ROSNEATH!!!

We are very, very proud of our Cross Country runners. At the annual Cross Country Run for P6 and P7 pupils in Helensburgh this morning our little peninsula school sent 14 runners and gained 2 x 3rd places, 1 x 4th place, 1 x 5th place, 1 x 12th place and 1 x 13th place. What an achievement!! ALL our runners crossed that Finish Line to earn a well-deserved medal.
