Nursery Update

We understand at the moment that parents and carers are not experiencing their child’s nursery experience as we used to before.

Below we have created and attached  learning sways for each bubble, this will give you an overview of their learning and interests within their bubble, and some the experiences and activities they are taking part in.

Nursery Update

Here at Simpson Nursery Class we are getting used to our new nursery routines, The children are thriving in their learning bubbles and we would like to tell you a little bit more about what they are getting up to.

The children have come up with their very own names for their bubbles and are directing their own learning within the group through the use of their own floorbooks.

The brown, magnolia and grey bubble are called The Explorers.

The orange and blue bubble are called The Adventurers.

The red and yellow bubble in the morning are called The Superheroes and the afternoon yellow and red bubble are called The Globe Stars.

The pink, purple and green bubble  are called The Puddle Jumpers.

Here a few snapshots of what we have been getting up to!

P2C Home Learning Activities – Thursday 13th August 2020

Good morning P2C – it was so nice to meet you all yesterday and I hope you enjoyed your first day back.

You were all given a paper copy of your home learning yesterday- it should be in your school bags.

Just in case you cannot find it I’ve attached  the 3 optional learning activities for you.      P2 Home Learning 13.08.20

Looking forward to seeing you all again on Friday!

Primary 3 and P3/2 Home Learning – Thursday 13th August

To Parent/Guardian

Below are guidelines for Home Learning activities to be completed on Thursday at home as part of a phased return to school.

1. All About Me Activity (Health & Wellbeing & Literacy)

For this activity children should use the worksheets provided and draw four items which are special to them in their lives and write a few sentence explaining why they are so important to them.

For example, Miss Butler would draw goggles and write about how she loves to swim and how often.

Note: Children should bring this work into school on Friday where they will share their special items with the class.

2. Addition and Subtraction (Numeracy)

There are three Numeracy activities – children are encouraged to choose and complete a minimum of one task.

Challenge Activity – Children should try to challenge themselves to create their own numeracy board game or an addition & subtraction colour-in activity.

Many thanks,

Miss Butler, Miss Gillespie, Miss Blyth, Miss Azam

Relax Kids Calm Booklet

As we look forward to welcoming our pupils back to school and nursery next week, I thought I would share the ‘Back to Calm with Relax Kids’ booklet for parents.

As children may be worrying or feeling anxious about returning to school or nursery, this booklet contains good information and activities for parents to work on with their children to help prepare them.

I hope you find it useful.

A few more Expressive Arts Ideas!!

Here are some more little ideas to keep you busy over the holidays if you run out of things to do!

By collecting some twigs from the garden or a walk and using any old material in house and some glue, you can be creative and make your own stick character. Really simple activity and fun to play with. Or add some coloured string to make a garden mobile.

Spare tyres, turn them into sand, water, bark or play areas for cars, dinosaurs, dolls! any kind of containers would work.

Old golf balls, with some paint and or pen markers, change them into bugs for the garden.

Hope these ideas have given you some, have fun creating and enjoy the holidays!

EXPRESSIVE ARTS FUN DURING THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS.

Hello to everyone big and small.  We hope you are all well and keeping safe. We have been looking at things we thought you may like to explore or try during the summer holidays.

The image below shows a young child playing a game made from recycled cardboard, lollipop sticks, kitchen roll tubes and toilet roll tubes.  You could use a cereal packet or a cardboard tray easily for this.  It’s up to you how you wish to design your own layout.  A large marble or a bouncy ball are a good size to fit through the tubes.  The aim of the game is to make the ball travel though the obstacles and get to the end. This activity will help with hand eye co-ordination fine and gross motor skills and problem solving. You will need some sticky tape or glue and a few pens to draw the start and finish points.  It’s great fun give it a try.

Please remember to take care with younger siblings and small objects.

Work on Spatial Awareness With This Simple Nature Shape Puzzle .
I love this activity it’s so simple to put together and delivers a different result each time. This gives your child the opportunity to work on spatial awareness using a natural resource stones or pebbles. whilst being imaginative and creative. The image below is of a heart however you can create whatever shape your child prefers such as the outline of an animal maybe a dinosaur or a whale. After placing the large stones encourage your child to fill in the gaps with the smaller ones. To sustain the interest you could use buttons of various sizes or bottle tops. It’s up to you and whatever you happen to have at hand.

Please take a picture of your little ones efforts and share with us all on twitter or on their learners journal.
