Outdoor Play

Good Morning everyone 🙂

We hope everyone is safe and well at home and enjoying your home learning experiences. Nursery staff have been working hard behind the scenes to plan for our children and support them from their home environment. We would like to remind you to check your learning journals for daily updates and fun new ideas to take part in if you wish to.  Within the parent contribution section you can upload pictures and updates of what you and your child have been busy doing at home we would love to see them.

Below are a few outdoor play ideas and suggestions from the Scottish Virtual Nature School that may support you and your child when engaging  in outdoor play throughout this time.

We are here to support you, Please do not hesitate to get in contact with your child’s keyworker or the leadership team may you have any queries or concerns.

Nursery Update

Here at Simpson Nursery Class we are getting used to our new nursery routines, The children are thriving in their learning bubbles and we would like to tell you a little bit more about what they are getting up to.

The children have come up with their very own names for their bubbles and are directing their own learning within the group through the use of their own floorbooks.

The brown, magnolia and grey bubble are called The Explorers.

The orange and blue bubble are called The Adventurers.

The red and yellow bubble in the morning are called The Superheroes and the afternoon yellow and red bubble are called The Globe Stars.

The pink, purple and green bubble  are called The Puddle Jumpers.

Here a few snapshots of what we have been getting up to!

Last Day of Term 😀

We can’t believe it today is the last day of term.

From everyone here at Simpson Nursery class we would like to say a big thankyou to all of the support we’ve had over the last few months throughout these challenging times and thank our families for staying at home and staying safe. We have missed all of your faces at nursery!

We are so happy that our new primary ones got to meet their new teacher and got to say a final goodbye to nursery this week. We wish them all the best of luck in Primary one 😀

In August we are looking forward to welcoming back our families and meeting new children and families that start with us.

We have created a little sway to introduce our nursery staff and a little sneak peak into nursery for our new children starting with us. Our existing children may also enjoy seeing a little video of their keyworker. This can be found on our twitter page, the link is attached below.

We hope you all have a lovely summer and can’t wait to welcome you back soon 😀⭐️

Preschool Update 😀

Good Afternoon everyone,

If your child is leaving nursery to start primary one this year you should of received a group call this week regarding a little request needing your help.

Below we have attached the letter sent to parents. If you haven’t sent over your child’s photograph don’t worry there is still time to do so.  Please send your child’s photo to

Hannah.sneddon@westlothian.org.uk

By tomorrow, Friday 19th June.

Thankyou all for the photographs we received so far we look forward to seeing more and celebrating your child’s time spent at nursery the best we can  😀

Please share this with other parents you may know of their child starting primary one this year.

Me Map Activity 😀

Today’s challenge is to create your very own ‘Me Map’ this will support the children transitioning into primary one and the children transitioning into nursery again.

The nursery staff have created their own example to give you a few ideas below.

Your Me Map could include a picture of your child, their likes and dislikes, favourite colour/food or things they enjoy doing!

This can also include your child’s drawings.

This can be done on paper and then photographed or done online and can be shared through our twitter page @NurserySimpson, your child’s learning journal or to the emails shared below.

Preschool children starting primary one sent to –

hannah.sneddon@westlothian.org.uk

Children starting back nursery or new to Simpson Nursery sent to –

alison.tomczynski@westlothian.org.uk

The Me Maps will then be shared with the primary one teachers and will support the teachers and the nursery staff to get to know the children for when they start back nursery and primary one.

Please keep your original copies of your child’s Me Map if possible for displays in the future!

Looking forward to seeing your Me Maps 😀
