P2/1 – Thursday 7th May

Hello Boys and Girls

I hope that you are all well.

It’s  only a short message today as I am at St Mary’s Primary School in Bathgate with children whose parents are keyworkers.

I hope you managed to have a go at the literacy tasks yesterday and maybe even the adjectives game that I mentioned too.

Remember that the Story Time from Home link is on a separate page for this week and that there is no writing task because it is a short week.

Missing you all lots!

Miss McDermott

Music Time with Mrs McWhirter

Good morning P2 from Mrs McWhirter. I hope you all had a lovely long May weekend and are ready to make some music!
If you were out in your garden or outdoors recently you will have noticed that the insects and minibeasts are everywhere!! This is their favourite time of the year I think! Today I am sending you a link to a Minibeast rap, I hope you enjoy it! I would like you to make up your own short rap or song about your favourite minibeast and maybe add a picture too? Have some fun with rhythm and rhyme!

3a Wednesday 6.5.20

Good morning everybody. I hope you all enjoyed your holiday weekend. Since it’s such a short working week, our home learning grid will focus on literacy and numeracy.

P3 PDF Week 5 plan (Wed 06.05)

Our favourite poem to share today is ” The King’s Breakfast” by A.A. Milne. See if you can find it online. Do you know which famous bear was created by A.A. Milne?

Mrs Bell and myself want to support everybody with their learning and it really helps if you can email either of us at least once a week. Please let us know how you are getting on with Sumdog, Active Maths and your learning grids. It’s also great to hear about the other learning you’re doing – gardening, baking, nature watching.  Please keep in touch.

Just for fun – which dog do you think is better at waiting? One of them learned to wait at my stable when I had horses for up to an hour and wouldn’t move until called. The other one has some work to do…

P2/1 – Thursday 30th April

Hello Everyone

I hope that you are all safe and well.

As you can see from the calendar it’s a rather rainy day in Bathgate this morning for the last day in April so perhaps you are going to have to do some indoor activities. I thought I would let you see this fantastic calendar and Kitty who is getting on fine as you can see!

Here is the link for today’s story which includes all of the Oxford Reading Tree family.

https://vimeo.com/413241292/acaed4d4cc

Remember as well as taking your time to write the story you should also take your time when drawing the picture too.  No stick people just because you are not in the classroom!

If you haven’t done so already you  could have a go at making a calendar today or making some puppets like I mentioned on Monday’s Story Time video.  You don’t even have to make puppets of Biff and Chip – you could make them of your family. LIke this…

I know that you have been now been sent passwords for the Sumdog maths website. It is really important that the first time you do this that you do it by yourself.  If your grown ups or big brothers and sisters tell you all the answers the next time you do it, you will keep getting questions that are too tricky for you and meant for older boys and girls!

I am not going to be giving you specific activities to do on Sumdog. Please just have a go and do what you can when you can but don’t be doing it all day either.

I hope that you have a good day, whatever you do !

3a Wed 29.4.20

Good morning 3a.

Apologies my blog is late. Technical issues.

Another week in lockdown, but I’ve not felt so cut off since I’ve been receiving your emails. Keep in touch.

Remember your suggested activities are published in your home learning grids and posted on this blog on Mondays.

Our favourite poem for today is ” On the Ning Nang Nong ” by Spike Milligan.  I still haven’t mastered uploading a link, but you’ll find it using a search engine. This is where I found it – https://childrens.poetryarchive.org/poem/on-the-ning-nang-nong/

Just for fun – Which dog do you think is the best at jumping?

Good Morning Primary 1!

Good morning Primary 1!

I thought I would give you some ideas for the STEM activity this morning. I have made a collage  of lots of different life cycles that you can create. You could either copy one of these or use your imagination to think of a different way to design one. The most important thing is to have fun and remember to send us some pictures.

Here is a little video that explains about life cycles. See how many different animals you can spot in it.

Lastly, when you and your family need a little break from all the crafting, here is a nice story about a little owl’s new egg. You will have to use your listening skills and imagination for some of it.

We are really missing you all. Take care and stay safe!

GOOD MORNING PRIMARY 2B MONDAY 27TH APRIL 2020

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and managed to get outside to enjoy our lovely weather.

Mrs Boyle and I really enjoyed hearing from lots of you last week. Thank you for all the e-mails and photographs of your learning.  Remember our weekly learning grid is just a guide. Do what you can.  Keep your learning fun and keep sharing it with us.

On Saturday I went for a lovely walk along the canal. I saw a duck with 11 ducklings. Can you imagine having to look after 11 babies! What have you seen when you have been outside?

One of the things I have enjoyed most over the last few weeks is having more time to read books. I know some of you have said that you are doing lots of reading too. Have you used the Oxford Owl website yet? You can find lots of great books to read here. I have attached a link to the website and an instruction sheet with a class login if you want to have a look.  Let us know how you get on.

Have a lovely day and have fun learning.

Story Time From Home – Friday 24th April

Good morning everyone from sunny Bathgate! Hope it’s a nice day in Linlithgow too.

Here is the link to the last of this week’s dragon stories. Please make sure that you watch right to the end as I had to add a little bit on!

https://vimeo.com/411167888/249f1eb2d9

I think my favourite story  this week has been Dragon Stew but I did feel very sorry for the dragon when the Vikings were poking and hurting him.  At least he got his own back in the end.

Please check Twitter later today for this week’s awesome achiever’s.  You’ll need to use your really good looking skills as remember I can’t include and names or photographs of your lovely faces!

Stay safe and enjoy the weekend.

Story Time from Home – Thursday 23rd April

Hello everyone! Did you find the connection between today and a dragon story? If you were at school in England you would probably know this because St George is the special saint of England just like St Andrew is our special saint here in Scotland. Another name for this is the patron saint. I wonder if you can find out any other patron saints?

Below is a link to a short video all about St George and the dragon which I think you might enjoy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YuVzOK89EA

And here is the link to today’s story time from home which is all about dragons. I hope that you enjoy this too and have started to think about what you could write for your own dragon stories.

https://vimeo.com/410760871/7bc04d9eae

Below is a photograph of some planet Earth crafts that some boys made at the hub school in Bathgate with me yesterday.  Don’t they look great?

The words at the bottom say reduce, reuse and recycle.

Thank you again for all your photos and messages. I will share some of these on Twitter at the end of the week but please remember grown ups I can’t post any  photographs with  faces or names.

Welcome back everyone 🌈

Welcome back to term 4. I hope you have had a nice relaxing Easter break and ready to get started. I definitely enjoyed seeing the sunshine and eating a few Easter eggs. 😊

I have also enjoyed seeing all the beautiful rainbows in windows as we have been out for  our daily walk.
Do you have one in your window? Why not share it with us. If you haven’t done one, maybe you could make one this week.
Be creative in your ideas.

Here is mine. 🌈

On your next walk, try to count how many rainbows you see!

Have a good first day back. Get in touch with any questions.

Mrs Chisholm
