There are lots of ideas being shared around at the moment. High on most peoples list is Joe Wicks at 9am each day and the Glasgow Science Centre at 10am, and if you take part too then it can make the learning more fun.

P2/1 have had another busy week learning lots. In Literacy P1 have learned two split diagraphs o-e and u-e and the tricky words one and anyone. We wrote words, built words on our magnetic boards and played roll and read. P2 have been focussing on the ‘-all’, ‘-ell’ and ‘-ill’ spelling patterns. We looked for them in a word search, wrote them in rainbow writing, made them on magnetic boards and played bingo. In writing we wrote about our mums and what makes them special. In numeracy this week P1 have been working on adding and subtracting within 20. We played games and used Numicon and number lines to help us. P2 have been looking for one more/less than, comparing and ordering numbers to 50. We have used base 10 to help us. P1 have started learning a song and have taken part in a little drama in preparation for their assembly. P2 learned how to draw daffodils in art this week. We used our pencils to sketch and then we coloured them in using pens or pencils. Here are a few of the children’s reflections:

We looked for ck words in a word search and made them on magnetic boards and played bingo. In writing we wrote about the superhero we have made. In numeracy this week P1 have been working on learning our number bonds to 20. We played games and used Numicon to help us. P2 have been exploring numbers to 50, place value and representations of numbers. We have used concrete materials to help us. On Tuesday Morning we watched Author’s live with Michael Rosen. On Wednesday morning we went to the Professor Eco show. It was all about schools who had problems to do with Science and he helped solved their problems like planting trees so the spiders didn’t come in to school. Thursday was World Book day. We had 3 drop everything and read sessions; we shared our favourite book and had another teacher come to read to us. Mrs Smith read Goldilocks and the Three Bears to us. On Friday we had our World Book day assembly and our Mad Hatter’s tea party. Here are a few of the children’s reflections:

This week has been very busy. In Literacy P1 have learned the long vowel sounds ea and oi and the tricky words do and does. We wrote words, built words on our magnetic boards, coloured real and nonsense words and played roll and read. P2 have focused on the ‘ck’ spelling pattern. ‘ck’ comes after a short vowel sound. We looked for them in a word search, made them on magnetic boards and wrote them in rainbow writing. In writing we thought and wrote about our everyday heroes. In numeracy this week P1 have been learning about halving and quarters. We coloured in halves and quarters of shapes. P2 have been exploring related facts (number bonds). On Thursday P1 had a visit from Mrs Gilchrist who is a midwife. She told us about her job and how she helps ladies when they are having a baby. P2 have been focussing on our assembly about everyday heroes. We have been busy filming and practising our lines. We also learned 2 songs. Thank you very much for coming to our assembly. We looked for them in a word search, made them on magnetic boards, played bingo and wrote them in bubble writing. In numeracy this week P1 have been learning about halving. We made halves with shapes and worked out halves of numbers. P2 have been working on subtracting when crossing 10. We used ten frames and number lines to help us. For IDL we created our superhero names. We also discussed what materials would be the best for our costumes. On Friday we went to our reflection assembly where we shared our worry bags. The tricky words we learned this week were thought, bought, caught, anyone, great and once. We looked for them in a word search, made them on magnetic boards, played bingo and wrote them in pyramid spelling. In writing this week we made a jam sandwich and wrote instructions on how to make a sandwich. In Maths this week we have been making half past and quarter past times on an analogue clock and a digital clock. We also discussed how many minutes in an hour and how many seconds in a minute. We had our Star of the Week circle time. Murdo is our star of the week. This week as part of Scotland loves languages we have been exploring Spain. We have learned how to say hello, goodbye, thank you and the word for moon in Spanish. We looked at Spain on a map and at their flag. We started our new topic of Superheroes. On Friday we went to assembly which was all about the cost of the school day. Here are a few of the children’s reflections:

Another productive and busy week for P2/1. This week in Literacy P1 have been learning the long vowel sounds or and air and the tricky words like and want. We have coloured in real and nonsense words, built words on our magnetic boards and played roll and read. P2 have continued to focus on tricky words. We looked for them in a word search, made them on magnetic boards, played bingo and wrote them in rainbow spelling. In writing this week we have started looking at writing instructions. We made a cat sock puppet and then wrote down the instructions on how to make a sock puppet. In Maths this week we have continued to explore time. We have been making o’clock and half past times on an analogue clock. We also learned what quarter past looked like. P2 have been reading analogue clocks and converting the time to digital. P1 have been reading and writing o’clock times on an analogue clock. In P.E we continued with gymnastics. We looked at different shapes, jumps, balances and rolls. We worked with a partner to create our own sequence. We had our Star of the Week circle time. Connie is our star of the week. We explored alliteration this week. Alliteration is when words start with the same sound for example swim-swam. We thought of words that started with the same sound as the animals in the story of There was a Wee Lassie who swallowed a Midgie. On Wednesday we had a visit from two Policemen who work in the road police unit. They spoke to us about the job of the police and we all got a shot on their motorbikes. Solomia even got to sound the sirens. On Friday we went to Primary 3’s assembly which was all about Chinese New Year. Here are a few of the children’s reflections:
