Health
Yesterday we learnt about resilience. Today we move onto B is for balance read the document and complete the art activity.
Morning everyone hope you are well. Lets have a good energetic start to the day with either Joe Wicks, Go Noodle or don’t forget Zach’s exercise programme is in Files. The information for today is in the Folder and if you have any questions come back to me.
Welcome back to the blog and I hope you enjoyed all the ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’activities. Remember to keep working through your packs of home learning and using any of these activities to supplement your learning.
Reading
This week we have been reading ‘The Toys Party’ through oxford owls ebooks. You can access the story through this website – https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/
Our user name is deans12 and the password is mrsstevenson
With the help of an adult access the story and have another read through focusing on any words you found challenging previously.
You can either choose one of the activities from the guided reading grid or you can complete the activity below.
Jumbled sentences
Read the sentences below, they are all jumbled up. Can you put them back into the correct order so that the sentence makes sense? Remember the capital letter will go at the start and the full stop at the end.
wanted Kipper party. a
toys. got He his
put cornflakes. He in
baked beans. in put He
cross. was Mum
I’ve included a link to a fun game ‘Viking Full Circle‘ to help you practise reading and spelling CVC words. You can choose any phase you feel comfortable with.
Below is a game to help you revise the new sound /ch/ (the link is for ch despite it being labelled as /sh/ ). Remember the ch sound will go either at the start or the end of the word.
How many ch words can you find in the picture below? Write down as many as you can, listen really carefully to each sound in the word to help you with your spelling.
/ch/ handwriting
Today let’s have a go at trying to write the /ch/ sound using a join between the c and the h. Below is a little example for you to have a look at to help you practise.
This is how the join should look. Don’t forget to..
Use a sharp pencil
Rest your letters on the line
Make sure your letters are the right size
Don’t lift your pencil off until you are finished
Don’t forget to self assess your work with ‘Green for Growth‘ and ‘Tickled Pink’.
Finally, I have added a game onto our home learning section of Educationcity called ‘Cheeping chicks‘ – have a go… can’t wait to see all your scores! Good Luck!
Numeracy
Daily Ten
Focus on ten less again. Below is the 100 square to help you.
I thought I would give you a number talk challenge like we do in class. All you have to do is say/write how you ‘see’ the dots. There is an example for you to follow if you feel unsure. Remember there are lots of different ways to see the dots. Remember to use the + and = in the correct place and check your totals.
Health and Well being/Art and Design
We have been focusing on what makes a good friend, and to have good friends we’ve got to be a good friend. Today I want you to think of the most important quality to you in a friend. Maybe it is being kind, thoughtful or funny. I thought we could make a friendship flower picture. Ask an adult to help you make the word you choose using sticky tape (you will have to double it up to make it sticky on both sides). Below are some examples… I think this would be a great activity to get you outdoors and searching for different pretty and colourful flowers/grasses and then create a beautiful picture.
I would love to see anything you create so don’t forget you can send pictures onto me at the school email address.

Story Time
I’m enjoying finding stories online for us to share. Today I thought we could watch and listen to ‘The Very Quiet Cricket’ by Eric Carle so grab some milk or your water bottle and enjoy!
If you listen carefully when you are next outside on your walk you might even hear some crickets, chirruping in the grass. What other sounds can you hear? What sense are you using?
You could even have a go at drawing your own cricket..here is a tutorial below to guide you.
Good luck with all your home learning activities today. Mrs Lockhart will be taking over the blog tomorrow and I will see you back here on Monday for another week of learning. Have a great weekend!

Activity – 4 – Health and Wellbeing – Music
Our Health and Wellbeing topic for this part of the term is Relationships. We have lots of different kinds relationships. We are part of a family and we know that there are lots of kinds of families. We also have a relationship with our friends at school and at home. We have been learning the “build up” song at school and have spent time talking about how important it is to give people compliments and make them feel good. Use the link below to teach someone at home the song and actions. Can you give someone a build up today?
Have a brilliant day. I will post more activities tomorrow.
Good morning!! Hope you are all safe and well. Did you take part in any of the activities set by Mrs Stewart for Well-being Wednesday? Mrs Morrison went for a long walk and was very tired afterwards!! I have attached some of the different ways to keep fit outside. Have a look and maybe ask a grown up to join in too!!
Hello boys and girls, I hope everyone has had a good week and you are ready for Thursday’s home learning tasks.
Let’s start with something to make us move!
R.E.
For the next wee while in our religious studies we are going to look at celebrations and festivals. We are going to focus today on an important Christian celebration – a wedding. Have a look at the powerpoint.
Now draw a wedding scene. Remember to include all the main people, you can look back at the powerpoint for help. Label your picture so we know who each person is.
Literacy
I am learning to recognise a proper and common noun
I will know I am successful if I can identify proper nouns
This week we are going to have another wee look at nouns. There are two types of nouns – common nouns and proper nouns. Have a look at the following clip.
So people and places are proper nouns. Complete the following worksheet underlining the proper nouns with a coloured pencil. Remember to add a capital letter to the proper nouns if necessary.
We are continuing our work on fractions and are focusing on halves and quarters.
I am learning to recognise fractions of a shape.
I will know I am successful if I recognise a quarter and a half
Play the roll a fraction game. First you need to cut out the dice shape and then glue it to make a fraction dice. Then roll the dice and colour the appropriate fraction on the worksheet.
Good morning everyone! I hope you all enjoyed Wellbeing Wednesday! Here are some learning activities for today to go alongside your packs that you have at home.
Writing
Mrs Anderson has set you a writing task this week! Write a letter to one of your friends from school. Tell them what you have been doing at home and what you miss about them. I have attached a basic letter layout for you to have a look at to remind yourselves how we write a letter.
Learning Intention: We are learning to write about our experiences.
Success Criteria: – I can write a title.
– I can write 2 or 3 sentences about what I have been doing.
-I can draw a picture or choose a photo to attach to my letter.
Numeracy
On Tuesday, we practised the 2 times table. Today, we are going to practise the 5 times table! Watch the song first to remind yourself of the 5 times table and then have a go at answering the questions. Once you have completed the questions, play the game I have attached below!
This week, your challenge is to draw a self-portrait! A self-portrait is a drawing of yourself. You could do this by looking in a mirror, by looking at a picture of yourself, or just imagine what you look like. Can you include a background so there is no white space? I have included some pictures for inspiration.
Special Activity
Mrs Anderson needs your help! Please see the document attached below for details.
Slightly different format again today. I suspect that I am going to change it again over the next few days.
Firstly thank you all for your very responsible use of teams yesterday.
Please use today to finish the work you have already been set, especially “Learning in P56”. Thomas and Ethan have already up-loaded theirs, but there are more things we have done. Some connected to “Oor Wullie”. Some independent. Try to think of all the different areas of the curriculum.
I have created a set of folders dedicated to Mrs Lockharts work. Go back through these, making sure you have done each one. I have added a new one.
Keep your personal projects going- you still have the folder to post them into.
Topic –Think about interesting ways to present stories. Please post any ideas you have so we can discuss them. What about making a film? Do you have Windows Media Player on your computer? If not please try to download and install it. Is there any other way we could film it? Could we use telephones? What apps could we use? I have created a dedicated folder for this work in “Files” as well.
Has anyone finished their work on measure yet? If not, finish money first and then move onto measure. I think all 4 parts of TJay 2a Chapter 13 (a,b,c and d) are useful. This will help support your work on decimals to 3 places.

Education City: You all appear to still have quite a lot of unfinished activities so I will wait until I publish some more.
Logan S is growing vegetables as a health project. Ethan has also now started growing strawberries. Anyone else?
Keep your daily diary going, recording what you are doing, what exercise you do, what you eat and how you feel.
