Calderwood Commitments (Actions):

• A gentle reminder that lunches should be ordered on iPay at home, this includes noting if your child has a packed lunch from home. Children take part in a range of Stag Start learning activities in the morning, therefore stopping them to order their lunch interrupts their learning time and uses unnecessary admin time. Friday packed lunches should be ordered by 9:30am on a Thursday. Advice on how to use iPay can be found here.

• 24^th February: 11:15am: Tummel Clan Calderwood Connects: 2 family members can attend
• 28^th February – 1^st March: School closed
• 1^st March: Ben Lomond Residential: Pupils meet outside school entrance at 12:15pm.
• 2^nd March: West Calder High Online Drop In Session: 7pm
• 3^rd March: One Year Anniversary Time Capsule Challenge: Please ensure children are wearing school uniform (and not P.E kit). The challenge results will be shared digitally with families.
• 7^th March: 9:00-10:15am: Calderwood Can Chats: Opportunity to pop in and look at your child’s jotters and online profile. This will also be available at Champion Conversations if you are unable to attend.
• 7^th March: 6:00pm: Parent Council Meeting
• 8^th – 15^th March: Champion Conservations Open Online to book: Letter issued with instructions about how to book an appointment with your child’s champion.
• 9^th March: School Photographer: Tempest: Clan Group Photos: School uniform and no P.E Kit please. Primary 7s to wear P7 ties and shirt and bring P7 hoodies.
• 10^th March: Clan Calderwood Connects: Linlithgow Two family members can attend

 

Calderwood Communication (for information)

• Our Calderwood Careers launched this week for term 3 & term 4.
• Triple P Parenting sessions will be held at Calderwood Primary School. If you are interested in these sessions, please email the school office. Please find further information here. 
• We recently got feedback on home learning in our P5-P7 clans. Please find the results from our families and pupils’ questionnaires here. Our new home learning grids in P5-P7 will reflect the actions points highlighted. An overview sheet will be provided to share expectations with our families.
• If your child would like to play on the grass areas at break and lunch times, please ensure they have outdoor shoes to change into, as their feet may get wet. You might also want to include a change of clothes in their school bag.
• This week we had our first mini champ meetings. All our children have joined a group they are interested in to help lead change at Calderwood, we are excited to see all that they achieve!
• An advert has went out this week to recruit a Depute Head Teacher, with the hope that they will start at some point after the Easter holiday. We will continue to keep the Parent Council updated with the progress.

Calderwood Compliments:

• Thank you to everyone who attended our Caledonia Clan Celebration. This was our first evening event and it was fantastic to see our children sharing their learning with their families. You can find some highlights here.
• It was fantastic to see our children representing Thinking Day this week through wearing their organisation’s uniform.
• Tay Clan were out of this world, with their Calderwood Connects all about the James Webb Telescope and space. Thank you to all the families who joined us.
• Thank you to Kate Ive who worked with our Primary 3s this week as part of community engagement art workshops for the upcoming Calderwood Café Public Art Project by Stirling Developments. The clans really enjoyed it!

Calderwood Commitments (Actions):

• Caledonia Clan Celebration: You can find out more about this Primary 1 – 7 family event and book to attend the event by clicking here. The choir sign up for the event is here.
• Free Football Tickets: Football Buzz has kindly offered us free tickets for the Livingston v Aberdeen football game on Saturday 4^th You can collect these from the school office on Friday 3^rd February. The tickets will be issued on a first come first served basis.
• 6^th – 10^th February: iPay is open for donations for our Caledonia Clan Celebration. Any funds raised will help to purchase Scottish and poetry books for the school.

• 3^rd February: Calderwood Scottish Poetry Recital: Clan Winners: Families of the Clan winners have been invited to attend. Children reciting poems, the choir and house and vice captains please wear school uniform (not P.E uniform) please. Primary 7s should wear their Primary 7 tie.

• 7^th February: Primary 5 Limelight Music Performance: Please find an Invite to Primary 5 families to join us.

• Primary 5- 7 Home Learning: We are currently changing our home learning grids in P5-P7. We would appreciate if any parent/carers could provide their feedback and views on this. Please complete the questionnaire.
• Ben Lomond Residential: Please find the presentations that were shared at the Parent/ Carer information session.

• We have had some further reports of head lice in clans, please find some information on the signs of head lice and how to treat it here.
• Values consultation: We continue to seek your opinion on what you think our school values should be, you can contribute here.
• Mrs Mullen, our PSW Champion will be leaving us at February Break to move on to a new adventure at the NHS, we wish her lots of lucks. Ms Mungall will also be leaving us at February Break, thanks to both champs for supporting our clans.

• Congratulations to all our poetry clan champions who will be performing in our Scottish Poetry Recital Competition on Friday 3^rd February, we wish them lots of luck!
• Thank you to everyone who donated to our dress down day. We raised £268, this will be used to purchase Food Technology equipment for our STEM Studio.
