Calderwood Parent Council – AGM Update

Our AGM took place on Tuesday the 8th of September, and we’d like to take the opportunity to share some updates with you.
After three years as Chair of the Parent Council, Jo Ferguson has stood down from the role. We’d like to say a massive thank you to Jo for all of her incredible hard work, patience and commitment over the past three years. We’re so grateful for everything she has done for the Parent Council and our school community.
We’d also like to thank Mica Burns, who has stood down as Treasurer, for all her hard work and dedication in the role.
A huge thank you also goes to everyone who formed the Parent Council during 2025–26, as well as all the amazing volunteers who gave their time throughout the year and helped make our events such a success. We couldn’t do it without you!

Calderwood Communication:

  • Crossing Patrol Person: There will no crossing attendant 4-14th September, please ensure your child is aware of this.
  • Uniform: We take great pride in our uniform as it helps us belong to our Calderwood family. A reminder, that black hoodies, black leggings and branded sports clothes are not part of our uniform. The various options are here.
  • Clothing Grant and Free School Meals Information: Please click here for more information
  • Mobile Phones and Smart Watches: Children who bring a phone to school, should switch off their phone before they enter the school playground and keep it off until they leave the playground. Each clan has a box where children can place their phone during the day. We would also request that children who have Smart watches, also place their watch into the box during school time.
  • Lunches: Please ensure you have ordered your child’s lunch at home on iPay. This ensures you know what your child is eating and also means they are not using their learning time in the mornings to order a lunch. If your child is having a packed lunch from home, it is useful for our systems if you can also mark this on iPay.
  • Toys from home: Please ensure your child is not bringing toys or squishes from home to school. These can be a distraction and cause issues if they are damaged or broken. Thank you for your support with this.
  • School Improvement Plan: You can find our Family Friendly School Improvement Plan for Term 1 here. We would appreciate your support with completing this quick survey to help us gather evidence.
  • Clan Charters: You can find our Primary 4-7 clan charters if you have a look on our blog.
  • Primary 7 Dalguise Camp: You can find information and a kit list here.
  • Sustainability Station: Thank you for all your donations, at this time, our stock is full and we don’t require any extra items at this time.

Calderwood Compliments:

  • Calderwood Chiefs: A huge congratulations to our eight new Calderwood Chiefs! The interview panel had a very difficult task of choosing the new Chief group, as the interviews were of a very high standard this session. You can find out more here.
  • Calderwood Can Certificates: A huge congratulations to our children who received certificates at Connects last Friday, there are some photos here.
  • Community helpers: Thank you to the helpers who have come in this week to help organise the library in the Discovery Den, our Sustainability Station and our STEM Studio, we really appreciate your help.

Calderwood Chiefs 2026-2027

This week we held interviews for our Calderwood Chiefs, these are our Primary 7 children who have a lead leadership role in the school.

Everyone who was interviewed this week did a fantastic job and the leadership team and Parent Council panel, had a difficult job making the selection.

A huge well done and thank you to everyone who applied and congratulations to our new chief team.
