Beatlie Christmas Charity Giving
Beatlie Cafe for Live Music Now – 18th November 2022
It was lovely to see parents, grandparents and carers back in Beatlie for our cafe this morning. Thanks for your donations, we raised £100 for Live Music Now.
Live Music Now (https://livemusicnow.scot/ ) visited our school last year and worked with some of the senior classes. It was very successful and we hope to have them back again in the future.
Our children showed us how much they enjoyed listening to the live music this morning with lots of dancing, smiling and playing along with musical instruments.
World Mental Health Day
We braved the rain to wrap the school in green ribbon for World Mental Health Day, giving ourselves a big green hug!!!
Eco Schools Green Flag
It is with great pride to announce that Beatlie School have achieved their 5th Green Flag for all their hard work on all things Eco within the school and the wider community.
Thank you to all the children, staff, parents and local community for all the support and participation over the last 2 years.
We look forward to our next journey which will start again after the October break and will continue on into the new school – how exciting!
International School Award
It is with great delight to announce the achievement of the International School Award from the British Council.
The Foundation level of the International School Award is for schools embarking on their international journey. It is ideal for schools that:
- are introducing the concept of internationalism,
- are getting ready to form an international partnership,
- have conducted at least one international classroom activity.
Beatlie have achieved this accolade through a partnership we formed with 2 schools in West Lothian and 1 in Africa.
We worked very hard on this partnership on 3 different areas:
# Gardening: From Earth to Plate
# Health, Mind & Body
# Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
We have enjoyed the partnership and plan to continue with international and local relationships to continue with our Learning for Sustainability throughout the curriculum and throughout the school.
We will be looking to further our experiences and join with other schools to participate in the ‘Climate Change Challenge’.

What an amazing response to our appeal – we even had donations from members of the local community and our neighbour Letham Primary!
Yesterday I filled my car, so today I brought my big car…..and I still ran out of space and had to call on help!
We had so many donations of wipes and nappies, plus some baby powder and food, so we have donated some of these to a charity preparing baby boxes to make sure everything gets to where it is needed the most.

#Fairtrade Fortnight
What a fantastic fortnight we had in Beatlie exploring all that is Fairtrade!
We had fun participating in the baking activity making tray bakes for all our friends and family to enjoy at home as we were unable to hold our coffee morning!
We experienced story massage listening to stories and songs about Fairtrade while relaxing.
Messy Play was fun exploring rice, coffee and chocolate!
We also participated in ‘Climate’ activities such as Litter Picking, Recycling and Gardening.
We hope you enjoy looking at all our hard work and experiences on the Learners Journals but we would also like to give a
HUGE THANKS for all the donations made for Fairtrade Fortnight!
We raised £64 from our virtual coffee morning.
