Hi everyone, hope you’ve all had a great Easter Holiday. We’ve had some beautiful weather and I’ve been seeing the benefits of the sunshine in my garden and on my local walks. It would be a great time to take advantage of this lovely weather by designing and making a pop-up pocket garden. The Eco-Committee are planing to make this into a competition so if you are interested then head over to the Eco-Schools website and click on Pop-up pocket garden to get details and ideas to make your very own👍
remember to take photos and share with us,
A wee reminder to everyone in the Eco-Committee, I have set up an Eco-Committee google classroom and invited all P3-P7 committee members to join, I would encourage you to join so you can share your great Eco ideas. Committee members in P1 and P2 ,I’ll get your help and ideas through seesaw.
Helping your child cope with their emotions at home
At St. Fergus’ Primary, we adopt a whole school approach to emotions awareness and regulation called Emotion Works. Your child/children have had lots of input on this and should be aware of each cog and what it means.
Emotion Works helps your child to understand why they feel particular emotions and be able to relate these emotions to a trigger (cause) and find a way to calm down and self-regulate. Expectedly, with the current ongoing situation, everyone will be feeling a range of emotions on a daily basis. We hope this flier will be useful to you in helping to keep your child/children calm in what is an uncertain and strange time for us all. It will also promote positive continuity and a recognisable vocabulary since this is what we promote in St. Fergus’.

The pupil Council had a meeting this morning to review what we have already done and what we want to do this year. We are looking at the How Good is Our School document and want to hear from each class on what they think about the relationships in our school. We are going to look at the teaching and learning in our school and have a chat with each class about how our school promotes good learning and how we give good quality feedback. We are also looking at updating our school house reward system to link in with our current behaviour policy.
The pupil Council are beginning to organise some fundraising events for this year with the first charity we are fundraising for being MISSIO.
On Tuesday at Parent’s Night, our Head and Depute boys and girls will be asking you for your views on or Family Learning Events. Please take time to complete the online evaluation with them. We are always trying to gather your views to help us plan for future events. Please see below for the QR Code and Web link.
Thank you to everyone who made our Family learning events possible. We have worked and learned together about Literacy, Numeracy, Health and Well being including mindfulness and emotions.
We will be evaluating these events in the coming weeks to plan for more after Christmas. Please make sure you take part!
Last session we asked parent’s what we could do to improve parental engagement in children’s learning. Many of our parents asked for information sessions in the evening.
Please come along to our first Family learning event on Tuesday 27th August at 6:30pm.
Today we enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea! We had sandwiches, cakes and strawberries just like Lucy had with Mr. Tumnus. We even has proper china cups and saucers. Now we are going to enjoy the movie of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Take a look at our Narnia Display! The boys and girls have just finished reading The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. As a class we created a scene from Narnia thinking about the key settings and characters of the novel. We think it looks beautiful!
