Renita Boyle

Primary 3/4 had a fantastic time at the library today! We met author Renita Boyle. She taught us some songs, played games and she sang us her book, Honk! Honk! Rattle! Rattle! We were also very lucky to all receive a copy this book! She challenged us to become storytellers and read this book to someone.

Bug Hunt

Today as part of STEM Fortnight we went exploring through the Privies looking for Mini Beasts. When got back to class we made some notes of the bugs we found and compared them to our friends. Take a look at what we found!

Symmetry Stations

This week in numeracy we have been learning about Symmetry.

We made Symmetrical patterns using Lego.

We looked online for images that showed symmetry in Nature.

Played games where we had to complete a symmetrical pattern.

Sorted images into Symmetric Shapes and Asymmetric Shapes.

World Book Day!

We have had a very busy World Book Day. This morning we went to see the library monitors who let us pick from a choice of 3 books and…. we get to keep them! After break, we joined up with Primary 2 and we got to listen to either Never Tickle a Tiger or The Dinosaur that Pooped the Princess. We then completed lots of fun tasks about these books. This afternoon, we visited Primary 7 and they read us The Hungry Caterpillar. We then worked together on a range of stations that they had created, such as colouring, a quiz and fruit tasting. We have had a wonderful day.

I liked guessing the fruit with P7. -Rachel

I thought the dinosaur story was so funny. -Arturo

I want to read my book.- Ula

Janis Mackay – Library Visit

On Wednesday the Primary 4s and 5s visited the Library to meet Scottish Author Janis Mackay. Janis spoke to us about using inspiration and imagination in our writing. She also told us about her award winning novels; Magnus Fin and The Accidental Time Traveller.  After hearing about her stories we had the opportunity to begin our own novel!
