Welcome to my new blog which I will update on a regular basis to let you know about many of the great things that are happening in Our Lady’s High School.
I am Dan Cardle and I started as Head Teacher in Our Lady’s at the start of term having spent the last 2 years as HT of St. Joseph’s Academy in Kilmarnock. Since my first visit to the school I have been very impressed by the positive ethos that exists within the school and this is confirmed by the pupils and the staff that I have spoken to over the last week.
Staff began the term with two in-service days to prepare for the pupils’ return. It was great to welcome the pupils back on Thursday – there were lots of smiling faces, obviously very happy to be back! I am very impressed by the high standard of uniform and hope that this continues throughout the year with the fantastic support of parents/carers.
On Friday we had our first morning Mass of the term. It was great to see so many of our young people turn up for Mass. Thanks to Fr Martin Delaney, our School chaplain, who comes into the school to celebrate Mass every Wednesday and Friday morning about 8.35am. A great way to start the day!
This week I am having assemblies with all year groups to introduce myself, discuss the aims of Our Lady’s High School and outline my expectations. At these assemblies the ‘Show My Homework’ software has also been introduced to pupils. Further information will be available soon for all parents.
The work on re-wiring the school is ongoing and we were glad to see the school looking a lot better following the disruption during the extensive work during the summer holidays.
