Each day one of the children bring a ‘student’ in to our class for the day. The children can bring a teddy, doll, stuffed dog or any other suitable stuffed animal from home. It is their job to create a personal talk in order to introduce the ‘student’ to the rest of the class. The other children in the class have to listen carefully to the introduction as a ‘no hands up’ approach is used to find out who has provided the speaker with a ‘quality audience’. They will be asked to answer questions about the student which will show if they have been listening to the speaker.
The ‘student’ takes part in all of the class activities for the day and it is their owners responsibility to explain all of the things they are learning about. This is a very important part of the ‘bring a student to class’ journey as it encourages the children to think about what they are doing in order to be able to put this into words to explain to our ‘student’.
At the end of the day the student’s owner must tell us what the student has learned throughout the day in Primary 5.
Our very first student of the day was Happy Feet, who managed to win the sudent of the day cup which the children thought was really funny.
Cool pictures and it looks like fun
I do too Erin. It’s really nice to see everyone’s special friends from home and to hear the stories they tell us about them.
Miss Docherty
I love doing the student from home in the class
