Black History Month and People of Colour

For Black History Month and to celebrate people of colour within our Braidhurst community two of our S6 Literacy Ambassadors Faith Ogbemudia and Mary Onwubiko created fantastic power points that highlight books written by and featuring people of colour:

Black History Month – Literacy Spotlight – Faith Ogbemudia

Black History Month – Literacy Spotlight – Mary Onwubiko

They then presented their power points to the rest of the literacy ambassadors during one of our lunchtime meetings.

We are also watching the iconic ‘Black Panther’ in our weekly Book Pix Film Club.

Also, Mrs Scott has been busy delivering a genre taster on multicultural stories to all S1 and S2 classes to encourage those pupils participating in the reader development scheme ‘The Reading Championship’ to select a multicultural novel for their next book choice.

And finally, there is also a Black History and People of Colour book display in the library which Mrs Scott and our literacy ambassadors are highlighting to pupils during the weekly literacy drop-in.
