Peer Tutors – Scotland Reads

Throughout the first term of school our team of S6 peer tutors worked with targeted S1 pupils to support them as they worked on the Scotland Reads paired reading programme.

Every week the S6 peer tutors and their S1 pupil/s would meet in the school library to read through the S1 pupils’ library book using the techniques they had learnt when trained in the Scotland Reads programme. This literacy intervention aimed to raise the reading fluency and attitude towards reading of the S1 pupils.

Upon completion of the programme, the feedback collected was overwhelmingly positive in terms of impact on reading and general involvement in the programme. Please follow the link to view the anonymous feedback from participating pupils.
