Dyslexia Awareness Month

Our second literacy event for October is highlighting Dyslexia Awareness. As a school we have many pupils who experience dyslexia and it was very important to our literacy ambassador team to bust some assumptions about dyslexia.

Two of our S2 literacy ambassadors Lily and Emma created a very informative power point on dyslexia (with the help of a few of our S1 literacy ambassadors) which the two girls volunteered to present to every S2 class in an effort to promote the fact that dyslexia is not a bad thing. A huge well done girls!

We also hosted a bake sale on Wednesday 27th October to raise funds for Dyslexia Scotland which the literacy ambassadors organised with our staff committee member Miss Galloway. The pupils managed to raise £38!

And finally, the school library has a range of dyslexia-friendly novels from Barrington Stoke that can be borrowed by anyone throughout the school year.
