P3 Home Learning
Week Beginning 22nd June 20
Monday
Spelling
*Write ten of your common words using fancy writing. Your letters could be
curly or dotty… or whatever you decide!
Reading
* Using items from your wardrobe dress up as your favourite story character
and read the book.
Mathematics
*Go outside to make some patterns. Use different items you find to make a
pattern.
Art
*Draw or paint your favourite animal using its natural colours. Now do it again
and make it your favourite colours.
Tuesday
Spelling
* Write ten of your common words out twice. Write in UPPERCASE the first
time and in lowercase the second time.
Reading/Writing
*Design a poster to persuade people to read your favourite book.
Mathematics
*Count and sort coins. Choose 2 or 3 coins to make coin rubbings. Now add them
together.
Science
*Blow bubbles and catch them. Make your own bubble maker using an empty
plastic water bottle. Just put in soapy water and squeeze. Let go to blow
bubbles.
Wednesday
*This is your last official day of Primary 3!
-Write your favourite memory from Primary 3.
-Write one thing you are proud of from Primary 3.
-Write one target for beginning Primary 4.
-Create a Thank You card to someone who has helped look after you this last
year (at home or at school).

Health Week 2020
Children I am sorry that we are not at school to enjoy our usual fun-filled Health
Week. Here are some activities to try at home. Try to complete at least two a
day. Have fun!

*Create a poster to advertise cycling safety.
*Write an acrostic poem with the word ‘Health’.
*Read a Sid and Shanarri story from their website every day.
*List all the things that make you feel safe.
*Make an obstacle course for you and your family to complete.
*Make a list of compliments for someone at home.
*Random Acts of Kindness – each day try to do/say something kind to a member of your family.
*Joe Wicks workouts on youtube
*10 minutes of relaxation/mindfulness every day
*Prepare a health meal/drink with your family.
*Go for a family walk every day.
*Choose three feelings (e.g. happy, sad, tired, angry, worried, excited, etc.) and record examples

*Reading – Choose your favourite traditional tale. Read this book with an adult/older
sibling each day this week and complete the following tasks:
1. Choose a character from the story. Draw the character, include name and
descriptions (appearance, personality, days/does)
2. Create a BME (Beginning, Middle, End) to summarise the story. Illustrate your work.
3. Create five questions about the story and ask an adult/older sibling to answer them.
4. Redesign the front cover of the book (include title, author, illustrator)

Week Beginning the 12th May

 

Good morning boys and girls. I hope you enjoyed your long weekend. As this week is a little shorter the layout of the week will be a little different.

Mathematics:

For mathematics this week I have set you two challenges on sumdog. You have from Tuesday- Friday to work through both of these. I will not set any other mathematics work as this may take you a little longer than usual. In addition to this however you could practise your 2 and 3 times table with a member of your family.

Literacy:

You should all have received a letter through the post with your Education City login details. This week I would like you to take your time getting used to this website. I have written a list of literacy games you can play on this throughout the week and a list of literacy activities for you to complete.

Education City games:

  • Pet Shop (building sentences)
  • Let’s Play.
  • Safe and Sand?
  • Captain Cod (spell words with ss)
  • Captain Cod (spell words with wo)

  • River Deep

You can explore other games that look fun to play as well.

Literacy Tasks:

  • 10 minutes reading everyday of a personal reading book.
  • 15 minutes of IDL spelling.
  • Create a new front cover for a book.
  • Write a blurb for a book you wish to write.
  • Ask an adult to give you a setting for example a beach. Write a paragraph describing this setting. Make sure you are using adjectives to make your writing more interesting.
  • Design a new character.

  • Squares and Triangles: Imagine you have £10. Choose three items of food or drink to buy. Work out the total cost and how much change you would have.
  • Circles: Ask an adult to lay coins out on a table. Identify each coin and add some coins together.

Use different resources from your home to create a bridge. You can use Lego, paper, cups etc..

Thursday:

  • – Create a wordsearch using your common words. Ask a member of your family to find the hidden words.

 

Writing

This is now the month of May and we focus on Our Lady. Write a letter to Mary to ask her to look after us during this difficult time

  • Using numbers 1-9 try to make the following numbers (you can only use the number once)

12 , 15, 20  (for example 9 + 3 = 12). For a challenge you can ask an adult to give you more numbers.

Art

Flowers for Mary – draw, paint, collage, create some beautiful flowers for Our Lady.

  • Quick speed writing – ask an adult to give you 5 of your common words. Write these words as quickly as you can and check the spelling afterwards.

Pick five of your common words. Ball- toss back and forth with someone spelling your words letter by letter with each toss.
Green group:
Pick five words from your word lists you created on Tuesday. Ball- toss back and forth with someone spelling your words letter by letter with each toss.

Suns: Read Space Poems. Write an acrostic poem for the word Space.
Moons: Read Dinosaur Safari and complete play activity one.

Planets: Read Light and Shadow. Follow the instructions in the book and make shadows in your back garden when the sun is shining.

Squares and Circles:
Ask an adult to give you a number between 1 and 100. Practice counting up and down from this number. For challenge, try to count up/ down from this number in 2’s or 3’s.
Triangles:
Ask an adult to give you a number between 1 and 20. Practise counting up and down from this number.

Look out of your bedroom window. Draw and label what you can see.
Thursday:

Write down 5 adjectives you can use in your writing.
Write character descriptions for your family (i.e what they look like ? / how they act? )
Mathematics:

Doubling challenge (write the answers in your jotter):
1. If a ladybird has 4 spots on one side and 4 spots on the other how many does she have in total?
2. Collect 9 sticks. If you had found 9 more how many would you have?
3. Draw 7 caterpillars on a large leaf. Double the amount. How many caterpillars do you have in total? Draw all the caterpillars and count them to check your answer.
4. Collect 3 leaves from outside. Collect 3 more. How many do you have now?
5. Jordan made 6 cupcakes but he needs to make more. They are double that amount in his class. How many more cupcakes does he need to make? What will be the total number? (You could try with your family to make this many cupcakes).
Health and Wellbeing:
– Help a family member around the house. You could help them to tidy up, make the dinner or set the dinner table.
– Go onto Youtube and watch Cosmetic Yoga. There are different videos for you to pick from for example Trolls and Harry Potter!

– Ask an adult to pick five of your common words and write them on one side of your paper with scrambled letters. Try and see if you can write the words out next to them correctly.

Choreograph a dance to your favourite song and teach this is a member of your household.

Use feathers, beads and other objects to make a creative wind chime that you can hang in your garden.
