Information for pupils hoping to study Medicine:

Applications are now open for Medic Insight Glasgow’s upcoming Day Programme. This event is for S4 pupils considering medicine as it aims to provide a useful understanding of what studying medicine and being a doctor is like.

It will be held online (via Zoom) on Saturday 8th April from 9am-5pm or in person at the Wolfson Medical School Building (University Avenue, G12 8QQ) on Tuesday 11th April from 9am-5pm. If the application is successful the student will be allocated either day to attend the event. We will try to allocate preferred dates where possible, but if the in person programme is oversubscribed the places will be allocated competitively on the merits of each application.

Holocaust Memorial Day

Good morning, you may or may not be aware that today is Holocaust memorial day and the 78th anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz by the Soviet Army.  The theme of Holocaust Memorial Day this year is “ordinary people”.  Ordinary people as victims, perpetrators, and bystanders.

Recently two of our students, Holly and Aidan, were given the opportunity to to speak to MSPs during the Time for Reflection session at the Scottish Parliament. They were able to share their experiences of Lessons from Auschwitz Project which they’ve participated in this year, including visiting the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum in Poland, and to reflect on why it’s important to commemorate and remember the Holocaust.
As part of the Next Steps stage of this project Holly and Aidan will also be sharing their experiences and what they learned with the school community by presenting to classes within the Humanities Faculty over the coming weeks.
To watch Holly and Aidan address the MSPs please click on the picture:
