Braidhurst High School has been selected to take part in this year’s Asda digital green tokens scheme.

The Asda Foundation’s Green Token Giving donates £1.4 million to local charities and good causes across the country each year. The usual in-store customer vote is still on pause, but following a successful trial earlier this year Asda launched the website – https://www.asda.com/green-tokens – so customers can vote from the comfort of their own home and online shoppers can take part as well.

The school’s digital voting will run from 1st December until 31st January 2022. Please be aware that you can only vote once within a 7-day period.

The winners of each store’s vote receive £500 from the Asda Foundation and the two runners-up are given £200 each.

Please visit the Asda site and vote for the school to enable us to have a chance at winning this fantastic prize!

S5/6 Mid Assessments

To reflect the change in status of the assessment process prelims will be called ‘mid assessments’

Tue 11th – Thu 20th Jan 2022 (most assessments will be in the hall with external invigilators)
Additional assessments will take place in class as part of the ongoing learning and teaching process. These may also be used to help generate the school estimates which would be used as final grades in the event of the SQA exams being cancelled again this year.
We are also planning to hold a second exam diet in the middle of March. The aim of this diet will be to provide pupils with a more realistic exam experience of the same length and demand as the formal SQA exams and while also helping to generate further evidence for candidate estimates.

Christmas Card Competition

Hayley (S3) has come first in our annual Christmas card illustration competition, with her colourful picture of Santa. Hayley wins a bundle of art materials, and her colourful drawing will appear as the front cover of our Christmas card this year. Well done!

Young STEM Leaders

Braidhurst runs a very successful Young Stem Leaders programme, and six of the group recently visited Logans Primary School to deliver a workshop celebrating STEM week. The Young Stem Leaders empowers young people in Scotland to create, inspire, and lead in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths.

Performance Football—Wellbeing and Protection

Our Performance School pupils recently had the opportunity to speak to the Scottish FA’s wellbeing and protection team about their experience of the programme. This was the first of four participation sessions that Braidhurst has organised to ensure that our pupils’ voices are heard.
