Pupil Equity Fund

Through the use of Pupil Equity Funding, we aim to ensure that all pupils, irrespective of background or any and all barriers to learning, get the best of what is offered at Braidhurst High School, both in the classroom and beyond.

Where possible, our Pupil Equity Fund allocation has been spent on extra staffing to support pupils.  Miss McKenna (Tech) and Mr Brandon (History) are responsible for the school’s approach to Pupil Equity Funding.  They work closely together to ensure that the principle of equity is applied to all aspects of school life.

Pupil Equity Funding is already benefitting our pupils, enriching their school experience and ensuring that all pupils are given the support they need to realise their potential.   Some of the initiatives and interventions the fund is being used for are detailed below:

  • Expansion of Nurture Unit provision
  • Expansion of Breakfast Club provision
  • Class and homework materials made more accessible for all pupils
  • English for Speakers of other Languages Groups (ESOL) Groups established
  • Play, Make, Eat initiative, during October Holiday
  • Cookery Skills event for S1 pupils
  • Expansion of Art Club provision
  • Robotics club resourced
  • Targeted literacy Interventions for S1 and S2
  • Targeted Numeracy Interventions for S1-S3
  • Two Homework Clubs established on Monday evening (S3) and Monday evening (S1/2)
  • Reading Championship introduced for S1 to S3 pupils
  • PE Kit purchased and kept in Department to promote participation
  • Dance Club led by specialist instructor
  • Outdoor Learning opportunity for targeted groups in S1-S3
  • Improving Attendance groups established for S2/3
