This week we have been doing rounding and estimating in maths. We learned that it helps us to know if we have a sensible answer if we estimate first. When using large numbers, it is easier to estimate if we round to one significant figure before working out the answer. We have also been doing a Sumdog competition this week and hope to see our school on the leaderboard!
We are really enjoying our study of the novel ‘Wonder’. This week we read Miranda’s side of the story and it really helped us to see things from her point of view. We learned that sometimes when you tell one small lie, you need to tell another lie to cover it up and before you know it, you have got yourself into a situation you wish you weren’t in but can’t see a way out! Miranda showed us that even if you make a big mistake like this, if you own up to it, apologise and put things right, there is always a way out. We also learned that it is important not to just follow the crowd because you want to be popular. It is far better to find friends who will accept you for who you are and always be there for you.
We really enjoyed doing some quizzes on Kahoot with Mrs Rowan. We covered homophones, general knowledge and times tables.
In music, we were tapping the rhythm with our pencils to some tiktok songs. Then we had to stand up and reach up to the notes to keep the rhythm.
Most of us have now finished our Autumn pictures and they are displayed in the classroom. We learned how to use perspective to create the illusion of objects fading in to the distance. We hope you like them!
