Newton Farm Primary School and Nursery Class

P6/7 Learning Showcase

November 3, 2023 by Miss Napier | 0 comments

On Thursday 2nd November, we held our learning showcase in our classroom. We had four different stations for our parents and guests to visit. One station was for STEM/WWII in which we were designing our own Spitfire/Lancaster Bombers. We had a ‘Fun 31’ station where we had some of our self made mini golf stations for everyone to try out. One station was for Literacy where we wrote our own fifty word challenge and played some of our literacy/word games. The final station was for maths and numeracy where we had some of our place value stations out and some of our multiplication games to play.

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to come along. We loved seeing you all and being able to share our learning!

Room 1

Good morning, everyone!

Room 1 had an amazing day on Tuesday celebrating Halloween. The boys and girls all looked fantastic dressed up in their costumes. Please see some pictures below of our wonderful costumes.

We enjoyed lots of fun and spooky activities including making our very own ghosts to hang up in our house using cotton wool. Room 1 then went to the gym hall to have a Halloween parade and games with the other Primary one classes. We then enjoyed dancing and games back in our classroom. The boys and girls all had a great day, and it was lovely to see them all having lots of fun.

Thank you

Happy Halloween from Room 4

What a brilliant day we had yesterday celebrating Halloween together!  The boys and girls all looked amazing in their costumes – I almost didn’t recognise some of them.

We had lots of fun doing scary dance moves, playing spooky party games and creating creepy crafts. Have a look at some of the pictures from our P1 dance below.

Happy Halloween! 🎃👻

Room 6 have had a fantastic week preparing for Halloween and we were all very excited to dress up/down this morning to celebrate. Today we spent the morning reading the Halloween-themed story ‘Funny Bones’ and identifying our favourite parts of the story and why.

Throughout the past week, Room 6 have been working very hard to revise our knowledge of numbers to 100 and we have been using this learning to complete an assessment. We will be moving on to addition at the end of this week.
Alongside our spooky spelling, we got into the Halloween/autumn spirit by using our art lesson to design some silly/funny pumpkins. We really enjoyed cutting out different parts to make our pumpkins unique and individual. Have a look at some of our work!

Below are some comments from the children in Room 6 identifying what they enjoyed learning about throughout the last week:

IW  – I loved doing maths when we practised numbers to 100.

HG – I loved doing Katie Morag where we learned about family trees because I like looking at different people’s families.

QO – I liked when we learned about Katie Morag’s island.

SG – I liked doing the nurture competition where we designed a logo.

AS – I liked writing about what I did at the weekend.

AS – I liked when we got some active learning time.

MM – I liked colouring in the different numbers to work on remembering my numbers.

DT – I liked doing the ghost and pumpkin spelling.

JR – I liked when we cut out our pumpkins and made them funny.

Have a great night everyone!
