A Busy Week in Room 19

We have had a very busy week.

In numeracy, we have continued to extend our knowledge of decimals. We have been writing decimals as fractions and ordering and comparing them.

We have continued reading Dark Isle, our class novel, and have been showing our understanding of the text through our comprehension work. We have painted our clay medallions from last week and they are looking great.

European Day of Languages in Room 21

Happy European Day of Languages 2024 from Room 21!

To start, we learnt about about all of the different opportunities learning a different language can bring us. We then looked at a map of Europe and used an atlas to locate and plot a number of capital cities. Next we used ICT to research and create a factfile on a country of our choice. Finally, we created small phrase books containing basic words/phrases in our countries language!

This Week in Room 27

We have been busy learning our new phoneme ‘j’ and the representations ‘g’ and ‘dge’, we have been rounding to the nearest 10 and 100 and continuing to link angles to compass points. We are loving ‘The Wild Robot’, especially the plot twist we read today! We finished our first reading for pleasure class book and have started ‘Gangsta Granny’. We used the Chromebooks to complete a quiz.

In Science, we had a great time exploring the digestive system by creating our very own models to demonstrate the process of digestion. Have a look at the pictures below:

We have been powering ahead with our brilliant class novel, High Rise Mystery by Sharna Jackson, and have been playing detective, aiming to solve the ‘Whodunnit’ mystery before we find out in the book. We have slowly but surely been piecing together information and have now added our findings (so far!) to our display wall in class. This display will continue to grow and will no doubt be bursting with more questions, predictions, motives and alibi information in the coming weeks.

Linking with the ‘high rise’ theme, the class have taken a look at ‘perception’ as means of creating a piece of art where the viewer is looking from the ground up at some super tall skyscrapers. We think our artwork is now reaching new heights! 😉

Room 5 – Our week

Can you believe we have come to the end of another week?! Time does fly when you have been busy!

This week, as part of our current topic “Super Duper You!”, we began our second focus text, ‘The Colour Monster’. This is a fantastic book which has allowed us to create many cross curricular links between Health and well-being, Topic, Art and our writing! We can’t wait to showcase some of our super work to you next week so  keep your eyes peeled!

We have also spent his week developing our subtraction skills within 10, 20 and beyond!

Take a look at all out super work in action…
