We have had a full day of celebrating everything we love about books!
We began the day with watching and drawing along with Author Tom Percival through his Authors Live Event. We even saw some familiar faces in the audience as some of our current P7 pupils attended this event when they were in P3. Tom taught us how to draw emotions, showing how drawing eyebrows can have a huge impact on our characters! As a class we love illustrating so this was super handy!
We then used the Indi’s to build an algorithm for a story! We sequenced well known stories such as the Three Little Pigs and The Tiger Who Came to Tea and created an algorithm for Indi to follow to show the path of the story. We are very good at using the Indi’s already so it was fun to challenge ourselves in a different way.
We also had our Social DEAR Time. This is a time where we can share our love of books and reading with our friends, if we wish to. We can read with our friends or make our own books, which we love to do in Room 13. Some pupils chose to read their books in the quiet zone as they were too into the story to be social!
Lastly we put our creativity to the test when Mrs Campbell challenged us to turn a fork into a famous book character! We had to use our abstraction skills to hone in on the features of the character that are most recognisable as the aim of the game was for each other to guess what character we made. I think the pupils did a fantastic job!!
Overall we had the best day celebrating our love of reading and all that reading gives us!
Well done!
Mrs Campbell
