PE – On Monday, we did a teamwork/reaction time game where 2 people had to hold a ball between them with just one hand, while trying to knock the ball out of others’ hands. It was tricky to try and keep your ball from getting knocked out and trying to talk with your partner so you went in the same direction! On Tuesday, We did more WWII drills with Miss O’Brien. We got in groups with our houses and got led by two platoon leaders. They got us to do drills and running. This was to work on communication and teamwork, and if your house worked hard enough we got house points.

Science – We learned more about bacteria on our hands by doing a handwashing experiment. We talked about where germ hotspots might be on our hands and then we put sanitiser on our hands. What didn’t know was that Miss Napier had put UV powder in the sanitiser and then she showed us all the ‘germs’ still on our hands with a blue light! Each group of tables had to wash their hands differently. Some had to wash just with water for 5 seconds, another group washed without soap for 10 seconds, and the last group used soap and washed their hands for 20 seconds. Miss Napier checked our hands again to see how effective each group’s handwashing was at removing the ‘germs.’ Using soap and water for 20 seconds is definitely the better option! We also did a sneezing experiment with a spray bottle to see how far a sneeze might travel when you put your hand over it, a tissue over it, or just nothing! Did you know a high force sneeze could travel up to 7.6 metres, if it’s not caught in a tissue or in your elbow?! Insane! We made some green slime too, which we pretended were bogies, and we had to catch all the bacteria (glitter) with it.
