Newton Farm Primary School and Nursery Class

Welcome Back to P1/2!

Welcome back after the holidays! It has been so lovely to see all the children again. They have settled back into school routines really well and have been very busy with their learning this week.

In Literacy, we have been consolidating all previously taught sounds and common words. We also practised predicting in our reading books, using clues such as the title and the picture on the front cover to help us guess what might happen in the story.

In Numeracy, we were introduced to subtraction. We explored numbers 1 and 2 less than and learned that when we take away, the number gets smaller.

Our Favourite Parts of the Week:

EJ: Drawing butterflies and a sunflower.

HM: Playing with the cars.

KO: Building a Lego car.

KA: Drawing.

LF: Counting to 100.

CS: Writing about my 2026 goal to get better at riding my bike.

KJO: Taking away 1 and 2.

CH: Building with snowflakes in the construction area.

TC: Learning about taking away.

JS: Using the Indies with Room 5.

AR: Drawing a picture of my 2026 goal.

AN: Learning French colours.

KH: PE – balancing bean bags on tennis racquets.

DM: Playing games in PE.

Homework will begin again on Wednesday 14th January. If homework folders have not yet been returned, please send them in as soon as possible.

PE Days: Our PE days have changed this term and will now be Wednesday and Thursday.

Have a lovely weekend 😊
