Good Afternoon,
What an exciting week we have had in room 5 this week. We learned a new sound ‘oi’, and new common words ‘their, some, them, last’. We have continued to look at addition and subtraction to 20, some of us even challenged ourselves to go to 40 with our sums and that is amazing! We spoke a lot about trying things that are tricky, but really giving it a go and even if we get them wrong as long as we are using our strategies to help us get there then it something to be proud of.
We spent some time creating Firework Art and these have now been added to our Proud Wall. We learned about why we celebrate Guy Fawkes night and how to stay safe around fireworks, we even wrote instructions on staying safe with Sparklers. We worked with Room 4 and Room 11 to create a poppy display and we learned about why we wear them and what the different colours of poppies mean- Blue for the French Symbol of Remembrance, Red for the Soldiers who died in the war, Purple for the animals who died in the War and White for Peace.
Today we sorted ourselves out into our Houses for our school points system, Fire Earth Water Air and we will now be trying really hard to win house points for our groups.
Please Note:
-
- Monday 10th November is an Inservice Day.
Homework has been given out today, the boys and girls wrote their own spelling words in their jotter this week. Please do not feel the need to start this before Monday, but just as we are off on Monday I wanted them to get the same amount of time. Next week we are consolidating our sounds ‘oi,aw, and ue’. Tasks have been allocated on Mathletics and Bug Club to begin Monday.
Thanks so much, and have a lovely weekend.
