What a wonderful week we’ve had in Primary 1! The children have been busy learning, exploring and celebrating through lots of fun and creative activities.

This week in literacy , we learned two new sounds — ‘m’ and ‘r’. The children have enjoyed practising how to say, read and write these sounds in different ways. We used active stations to make our learning even more exciting! From matching the picture to the correct sounds, rainbow writing and using magnetic letters, everyone worked so hard to listen carefully and use their new sounds in words.

In maths, we have been learning to write addition number sentences. The children are growing in confidence using the “+” and “=” symbols to show their thinking. We explored what happens when we add zero, one and two to a number using cubes and number lines to help us find the answers. It’s been lovely to see everyone beginning to understand how numbers grow.

On Wednesday, we got creative with some firework art to celebrate Bonfire Night. The children loved experimenting with bright colours to make their fireworks stand out.

Just a note to say if your child has expressed an interest in having a speaking part in our Nativity, their lines have now been sent home. Please take some time to practise these together to help your child learn their words confidently. We’re so excited to start rehearsing and can’t wait to share our performance with you soon!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend 😀
