Oceans in P6B

This week P6B looked at the layers of the ocean and all the wonderful animals that live there! We labelled a diagram that showed the 5 different layers of the ocean, and now we are working on a class display!

We used our iPads to research marine life and drew pictures of them that will be displayed on our topic wall. They will be placed within the ocean zone that they live in. We have worked incredibly hard on this and the drawings are beautiful!

See us next week for the finished result!

Bug hunt

P2b went on a bug hunt and using an app identified the bugs and insects they found. After we used the pictures we had taken as inspiration for our art lesson. Well done boys and girls.

Scratch coding

P6a have demonstrated brilliant coding skills this week.  We used the app Scratch to help us create coding animations.  If we were new to coding our friends helped us by giving little tips and showing us how to solve any problems.  Superb cooperation, creativity and coding.

A busy week in P5b

This week we have continued our revision of number work. I am very pleased with the progress. In writing ✍️ the class have been developing their skills , writing an explanation about planting sunflowers. 🌻Next week we will write about improving sustainability in a school. The children are very enthusiastic about this topic and have helped me plan some excellent activities.

Through our stem and IDL topic we have been learning about our local environment and the positive things we can do to improve our outdoor environment and learn about sustainability.🌱🐦‍⬛🐞🪵🌳

Sustainability at Wallacewell

Primary 5 are developing sustainably at Wallacewell this term. We are growing flowers from seeds that are good for insects and birds. We need your help.

We are looking for plant pots to help us grow our seedlings in bigger pot. Primary 5 would be very grateful if you could donate any plant pots.
Thank you for your kind consideration.

P2a Welcome Back

First week back after the Easter break and it was a busy one for P2a.

The class continued working through their spelling programme learning the ‘ss’ sound, they were excellent when using the alphabet boards making and breaking words.

There was lots of teamwork and creativity on show in the playroom this week.

We also went outside for some outdoor learning to complete science experiments. The class had to look around the playground for items they thought would sink or float and test it in buckets of water. They had lots of fun, engaged amazingly and made some brilliant predictions.

This week in p5a

This week we were only here for 4 days because it was the Easter holidays. For maths we have been doing box method and it was really fun ,we solved 2 digit by 2 digit and some people did  3 digit by 2 digit .for PE we are doing athletics and today we did golf . We planted our own sunflowers this week and we planted flowers behind our huts . We have been doing reading tasks for our literacy . Our spelling test was good too.

Welcome to Term 4

Primary 3b have settled back into class and have been working hard. We have enjoyed using metre sticks and rulers to measure the perimeter of shapes around and outside the classroom. We have also begun to think about expanding our range of numbers and using different strategies when calculating equations in numeracy. We have started our new session in the gym hall, beginning to measure our improving fitness levels and embarking on circuit training activities. We have been using clues from text to make predictions about what might happen in the story. We have also written some familiar stories from a different perspective. We have had a little introduction to our new topic of Castles. We are looking forward to finding more out about this as the weeks pass. In PATHS, we have been considering the importance of good manners. We will be looking over the next few weeks at dictionary skills and have been looking at alphabetical order in preparation for that. We have also enjoyed using pointillism techniques in our art session this week. We are looking forward to an exciting and productive final term.

P4b

It has been a busy week in P4b where we have taken part in lots of new learning and made the most of the lovely weather.

I enjoyed creating symmetrical pictures and paintings. Jessica

I know that symmetry is when you get the mirror image on the opposite side of the shape. Charlie

We can check if something is symmetrical using a mirror along the centre. Cooper L

A line of symmetry goes through the centre of the object. You can get more than one line of symmetry sometimes. Ruaridh R

We went outside to explore and took photos of symmetry in our environment. Some patterns and symmetry were in nature and some were in man-made objects. Finn

We drew the lines of symmetry on our photos of flowers, leaves, the climbing frame, benches and lots more. Poppy

Miss Bruce has taught us about primary and secondary sources and this will help us research for our personal projects. We will be using our writing skills to take notes and create a project. I am reporting on Hades. Drew

I am happy that we get to choose what we want to learn about. Samuel
