P5a

P5a have been very busy. In language we are focusing on report writing. Your child is making a comprehensive report about our topic Natural Disasters. They can then use this as part of their presentation in the next couple of weeks. We have successfully covered fractions, decimals in number and are ready to tackle money before the end of term. Everyone has worked hard to learn and improve their own strategies to complete any task.

We are delighted that girls from P5 were among the Dancers who won their heat at Springburn Academy. On Friday afternoon the class were able to display some of the activities we have been completing weekly as part of our STEM topics. Unfortunately I forgot to take any photographs!
This class love an opportunity to learn!

P3 Playground Litter Pick

As part of our whole school Eco Action Plan, P3 were given the aim to improve the environmental quality of the school. Last Friday both P3a and P3b worked as a team to pick up all the litter in our playground. The children had a brilliant time using the litter pickers and working together. Afterwards the children created their own posters to encourage others to keep our school litter free and help us achieve our aim.

Stem afternoon

P6 enjoyed the stem challenges linked to our Ancient Egyptians context for learning. The children showed great teamwork and problem solving skills when using a variety of resources to build pyramids and working chariots.

Novel study

This term p6 have been reading the book ‘Coraline’ for our novel study. This week the children were able to create their own board game showing the journey of the character and challenges faced throughout the book. P6 showed a great knowledge of the book as well as fab creativity and teamwork. Well done!

When learning about the Ancient Egyptians p6 showed a keen interest in mummification. We decided to explore this further and have done an experiment to mummify a tomato! We will be recording the results.

Listen Up! Anti-Bullying Week – P3a

For our health and well-being lessons we have been focusing on anti-bullying. The children discussed what bullying meant to them and we explored different bullying scenarios and ways to resolve these. The children worked in small groups using drama to improvise the different scenarios. We then created freeze frames for each of our scenes to explore the story and resolutions. The children did a fantastic job using drama to explore this issue.

Christmas Community Events – December 2023

Dear Families,

We know that Christmas is a busy time and we are trying to condense our information sharing for you all as much as possible. However we have been made aware of few local events that may be of interest to you and your family over the festive season.

We have been contacted by a community member who organises the ‘Santa Stop Visits’ in the Robroyston area. This year it is planned for Friday the 15th of December. Unfortunately it could not go head last year due to a lack of volunteers. The team are looking for volunteers to help this year. If you are able to help out please contact the school by replying to this email and we will pass your details on to the organisers. They team are also looking for donations of selection boxes to ensure every child gets one during the community event. If you are able to help out in any way, please contact us at the school.

On Saturday the 2nd of December from 1-4pm, Robroyston Church (34 Saughs Drive, G33 1HG) are hosting their Christmas Table Top Sale & Café. A range of items will be on sale including crafts, home-baking and new & preloved items. Admission cost for adults is £3.50 and 50p for a child. This includes tea and coffee and home- baking.
