Primary 3 Easter Showcase Prep

This week the children have been very busy getting ready for next weeks Easter Learning Showcase. Our learning has been focussing on expressive arts. We have been singing, using drama performance skills, playing instruments and creating art work to explore our Easter Topic. We have been working so hard and as always I am incredibly proud of what the children have achieved. Well Done P3a!

Fairtrade

P6 have been learning about fairtrade, focussing on how climate change impacts the farmers and people who reply on agriculture for a living. We also looked at at how everyone in the production chain of our food is paid and the fairness of this.

it has been great to see the children so invested in this and so inquisitive throughout our learning!

Natural Disasters P7A and P7B

This week in the Creative Enquiry Room P7a and P7b took part in experiments that helped demonstrate the causes and impacts of different Natural Disasters. The focus of the experiments was Earthquakes, Tornados and Tsunamis. P7 were able to show the process of liquification that occurs during some Earthquakes. They were also able to describe what causes a Tornado to form and what causes Tsunamis and the impact they have on coastal areas around the world.

Religious & Moral Education

Primary 4a have been learning about places of worship. We have worked hard to create dioramas that show the most common features that you would find in churches, mosques and gurdwaras. Next week we are going to visit a real church!

This week the JRSO members have been very busy, writing a script for a film they are going to make about road safety around our school. At the moment it is all at the planning stage.

Diversity Day

Today primary 5 took part in many activities to celebrate our similarities and differences. The children participated in any discussions and tasks. Here are some photographs of the work that they produced today.

Diversity Day – P3

P3 had a wonderful time celebrating Diversity Day. The children loved learning about the importance of celebrating our uniqueness. We read ‘Our Diversity Makes Us Special’ a wonderful story by Elizabeth Cole. We then used the story to help start discussion about the things that make us different. We finished our learning by joining together to learn about all of our differences.

Our week P6b

This week we kicked things off with some active maths to introduce our new maths topic ‘decimals’.

some of our learners practiced their division skills using the concrete materials available in the classroom to support our learning and understanding.

we also participated in some fitness circuits using QR codes.

To help us solidifying our new learning of converting fractions we played some active math games, showing off our new knowledge! 🤓

We also engaged with some live Gaelic lessons on teams with Joy to help us with our moderation language skills and celebrate international Gaelic day!

finally we celebrated diversity with a sing a long! We created our own diversity poems and posters too🎤
