Easter Message – March 2024

What a week! -P3a

This week the children have been very busy with their learning. We had fun recording and taking part in short talks about Ancient Egypt.

In maths we have been working on applying our knowledge of the 4 operations, and learning about symmetry. The children experienced this through play and games. They especially enjoyed our symmetry game ‘anything you can do I can do’. Take a look at their creations!

In P.E for fitness we have been learning about building our stamina. The children tried something different this week and had a go at yoga. Everyone did such a fantastic job creating and holding all of the different poses. Ask us to show you some of our new moves.

In the play area the children got very creative at the origami station, they created origami cats. Some of the children got very creative and tapped into the force (using their critical thinking and problem solving skills) to turn their cats into little baby Yoda’s well done P3a!

Busy week in P5b

Last week we were working on mass in maths.  The children had everyday objects and used their estimation skills to try and weigh out the equivalent weight using sand. Some children were also using the balance scales to try and weigh items and then check their accuracy with good results.

As part of science week we tried to build a raft from a piece of paper to help the brownies safely cross the pond without getting wet.  Lots of different designs tested and the winning raft held 215g.

On Tuesday we had a visit from the road safety team teaching us how to stay safe and practised our football skills with the coaches.

We were also learning about Ramadan, tints and shades in art and braved the rain to do some orienteering.

A very wet week!

As usual P5a have been working very hard this cold week. Despite the chilly conditions we were able to practise our skills about perimeter in the playground. A great way to enjoy learning!

Today we completed our Space topic and everyone was able to show their work.
Next week weather permitting we will start to plant some seeds in the plots behind the P5 classrooms.🤞

Multi-sport activities

Primary 2 were very enthusiastically when their multi-sport coaches from City of Glasgow College had prepared a variety of circuits to enable them to try different activities.

They were able to hula hoop, play rugby, football, basketball and hurdles.

Ramadan

Primary 2 were learning about Ramadan. They were fortunate enough to have some of the children willing to share their own and their families experiences of Ramadan  and talked enthusiastically about the preparations and celebrations in their faith.

JRSO update

On Tuesday 12th of March Ollie and Rosie traveled to the City Chambers to make a film about road safety around Wallacewell Primary. They had a great experience learning about the task of making a film and all the jobs associated with creating images for a film. The next task is to share their video with the school.

All in a good week

This week, P5 went outside to learn about reading grid maps and this time we added using a compass. Everyone enjoyed the learning even in the rain! ☔️ Next week we have planned to include the pitch with the maps, weather permitting!
The road safety team came to Wallacewell and we all enjoyed a quiz! These lucky 4 are the winning team.

On Tuesday 2 pupils from P5a went to the CIty Chambers to make a movie about road safety around the school. The whole class had supported and contributed to their script and film.

Well done Rosie and Ollie
