We have been enjoying our time in the creative enquiry room!
Our focus over the next few weeks is ‘Journeys’.
Some of the activities we have been engaged with are:-
P6a have been very engaged in all the activities on offer and have really used their imagination and problem-solving skills to support them in their work!
Please find attached the Parent Council Annual Report and Accounts ahead of their scheduled AGM on Monday the 23rd of September 2024. The meeting will take place at Wallacewell Primary at 6pm. As always, all welcome. Childcare for school aged pupils will be available. We look forward to seeing you there.
We had a great start to this week enjoying time outdoors taking part in the Active Play program. This involved working together as a team, lots of running around and importantly having fun.
After all our exercise we continued on with our discursive writing. Mrs Potter was very impressed with the great planning discussions we had together before we began.
In Maths we began looking at part part whole models which will help us with our understanding of addition and subtraction.
Finally we continued our Fairtrade learning in our Play area where some children decided to create their own Fairtrade shop to sell their products.
P5b enjoyed using their problem solving skills to create different designs that could be a form of transport. Our STEM topic is journeys. Some children started to make a marble run and we hope to complete their creations next week.

We have had a great week in P7b. We have continued working on place value and are starting to feel very confident with this so are beginning to explore addition using up to 7 digit numbers.
Our persuasive writing has shown huge improvement and we have all shown great collaboration skills as we put a spin on fairy tale stories, taking on the role of the villain and trying to convince our reader we are innocent after all.
We have been enjoying ‘Bodhran’ drumming with our visiting specialist, David, and our weekly trip to Springburn Leisure Centre for swimming and basketball.
My favourite thing so far was learning about the Earth and moon and deciding if the moon landing was Fact or Fiction. I’m still finding out more about it! Elena-Rose
I really ended writing my response to ‘Inside Out’. I like that movie and love making my own words to write about something. I had an abundance of fun! Drew
I’m really enjoying writing in my own words because it is challenging. Sara
I really like the chilli challenges in maths and that there are lots of cool activities to do. Lily
I really liked researching countries. Ya Ya and I chose to find out about Vatican City and it was really interesting to find out that no children are born there because there are zero hospitals and there are only 30 women there. Ruaridh R

This week p6a have been very busy!!
Literacy – We began work on our class novel ‘Double Act’ by Jacqueline Wilson! Before reading, we made some predictions using the cover of the book. I wonder if any of these will be correct – we will soon find out!
Maths – We enjoyed making our own maths board games this week based on place value! We then had fun playing each others.
IDL – Our topic this term is Famous Artists. This week we carried out some research on Roy Lichtenstein – a famous Pop Artist who has created some very effective pieces using onomatopoeic words! Next week we will be trying to create some art in the same style as he did!
P5a have been working extremely hard, they have been doing journeys in creative enquiry, rounding to the nearest 10 100 1000 and even decimals. Their work on their novel Charlotte’s web has been fantastic. In reading they’ve been focusing on summarising they’ve been absolutely brilliant💯what superstars 🌟!!

It has been a busy start to the term this year. We have been working hard in maths and literacy already, and supporting our learning playing games and working collaboratively to share our knowledge.
We begun our IDL topic exploring the Celts in the iron ages, we looked at how they lived and what they did. We had lots of fun making roundhouses and hillforts for the tribes. We also had a go at paper weaving, since weaving was very popular back then! We produced some fabulous examples. Next we will be comparing the Celtic life to the Romans and finding out what happened next!
We now have our play area set up with our focus for the next few weeks being Fairtrade. We were learning how beans grow and using our data handling skills to show how far different products travel to reach us.
There was lots of fantastic learning going on and we have more great artwork for the walls.
Another popular activity were the Bee-bots which we had to program to visit the different shops.

We finished the week learning about the lifecycle of a sea turtle.
