P5a

This week P5a have completed work on volume . We have successfully planted sunflower seeds and seedlings are now appearing. By next Tuesday there should be about 24 sunflower 🌻 plants to be planted into large containers in the school. The children are enjoying learning as much as possible outside about plants and biodiversity.

Mrs. Jodah

Excitement in Primary 2 today as the children discovered one of our stick insects has hatched and was moving around the net. Just a little bit over a centimetre, it was welcomed into the class with squeals of delight. Still a few more to hatch so eager eyes are watching.

Also the first of our cucamelon seedlings have popped through the soil.

Nature is an amazing teacher!

P3a Poetic Dignity – RRSA

The Rights Respecting School Award spotlight this month was focused on Dignity, how we show dignity to others, and the rights which give us dignity. In P3a the children learned how to treat people with dignity through the wonderful story ‘The Invisible’ by Tom Percival. Afterward the children created acrostic poems to explore the theme Dignity.

P6a at Pinkston

We had a fantastic first day at Pinkston Basin taking part in a pilot for Glasgows Urban Adventure Award, engaging in outdoor learning adventures and activities. We had so much fun learning to Kayak as well as building our confidence in the water. We also spent time in the forest for our NOLA (national outdoor learning award) taking part in various different activities and working together. We can’t wait for our next session on 6th June!

P6b’s Trip to Blair Drummond Safari Park🐒

We had a great time exploring and adventuring at Blair Drummond! We got to see lots of different animals and were able to use our knowledge from our topic The Rainforest to identify some of the animals and share some facts about them. We saw giraffes, lions, monkeys, rhinos and many more. We especially liked the sea lion show! 🦭

We were lucky to have visited on such a warm sunny day and make some fabulous memories with our friends ☀️🦎🦖

P6b Library Visit 📚

P6b had a fantastic time visiting our local library. We had the opportunity to explore new books and we even got to take one back to school! We got to learn about our current topic The Rainforest 🐸!

Tilly has a new home!

It has been a great week in P5 with lots going on.  We have been taking good care of our tomato plant that Miss Davidson gave us as part of the Tomato Plant Challenge and it has now more than doubled in size.  We have named our plant Tilly and this week we decided to repot it to give it more room to grow.

On Monday we finished our block of music and filmed our rap song videos.  There was lots of enthusiasm and some great videos.

On Wednesday we again were in the creative enquiry room focussing on our DYW jobs and some more tasks were finished.

In maths our focus this week was on measuring volume and converting units of volume.

A great week for learning outdoors.

It was good to have our athletics lesson all about learning jumping techniques outside on Tuesday. We were able to be creative about the space we could use.

Everyone in P5 had a great day on Thursday at Blair Drummond Safari Park. The weather has been particularly kind to us this week. On Friday P5a continued to learn about growing plants and learning outdoors. We have now planted our sunflower seeds that Miss Davidson was able to source for us. Hopefully we will be able to study their growth in different conditions and see most of them develop into sunflowers 🌻 by August. I am looking forward to watch our seedlings grow.
