Water Lillies

While learning about the water cycle and the life cycle of plants P2b worked hard to create their own water Lillie’s through our art project. Over several weeks P2b learned how to mix paint, make and use stencils and cut difficult shapes. After several lessons the boys and girls were able to produce these beautiful works of art. well done P2B!

P5a

We have been making the most of the nicer weather this week and been taking our learning outside, we have been giving and following directions using compass points and angle turns in maths. It was good fun, and we showed great teamwork and communication skills. In writing we finished our own adventure books after being inspired by the author visit last week. We had our finial week investigating forces in creative enquiry. We were exploring ‘responsible actions’ during our PATHS lessons, where the children had lots of great contributions to share.

This Week in P7a

This week we’ve been learning about co-ordinates in 4 quadrants, and using this information to create pictures of beloved Disney characters. As well as this we developed our understanding of probability.

To continue in our artistic vein, we created abstract self portraits using our learning about line, colour and shade.

As part of our P.A.T.H.S course we’ve been finding “win win” solutions to conflict resolution scenarios.

This week in p7b

We have been working very hard on our gymnastics routines and performed for the class.

Our PATHS this term has been including lots of role play which we are great at getting involved in.

We are getting very confident with compass points and bearings and have started to look at coordinates.

P5b

This week P5b have been continuing their writing, learning skills to write a report about Natural Disasters. They have used the information they previously collected using note taking skills. There has been a good effort to produce an interesting report by everyone.

In Mathematics P5b are now completing money and have moved from angles to learn about coordinates. This should lead us to map reading and sometime outside focusing on orienteering. Fingers crossed the weather is kind to us!

This is the last week of the Forces topic. The children have enjoyed the theme to then go off and plan their own learning on a Thursday afternoon.

P2a Term 3 Update

P2a have worked extremely hard and had loads of fun during term 3.

The children have loved learning about money and using the concrete materials to improve their coin recognition. They have been learning how to add up coins to make different values using different combinations. We will be moving on to calculating change next.

We are all very proud of the incredible work the class have done in writing. We have described many different settings including Andy’s Room and Pizza Planet from Toy Story, the fish tank from Nemo and a Gingerbread house. The class have been using loads of adjectives and connectives to improve their sentences and we have been working on using our senses to describe the settings.

In the playroom we were learning about the NHS which has been a huge favourite among the class with many showing great interests in the roles of doctors and nurses and other emergency services. We have now moved onto changes in the playroom.

P2a were also very lucky recently to have a golf lesson where they learned about golf clubs and practised their putting. We also finished our rugby block which the kids loved and they really impressed the coach with how much they improved and worked as a team.

P3a Weekly Update

Last week we created our own surveys to ask the class and then displayed our data in a bar graph.  We were also working on using number lines to help solve subtraction calculations.

We celebrated World Book Day with a special assembly where some children shared a part of a book they enjoy.  In class we made corner bookmarks to put on our own reading books and completed a Book Day quiz.

Finally we completed our tulip pictures by painting them and they are looking fantastic.

World Book Day

Another great week in primary 1. Lots of learning in our usual ways…counting, spelling, reading, writing. To top it all this week, it was World Book Day.

We came to school dressed as our favourite book characters or in pyjamas. Some brought their favourite book to share with the class.

We looked through books to find special characters in our Book Scavenger Hunt.

A great day was had by everyone.
