Character Description 2B
For the last few weeks Primary 2B have been working very hard on developing their creative writing skills through character description. They have worked hard to use adjectives and connectives to create detailed descriptions of characters from Alice in Wonderland. Their descriptions of both the White Rabbit and Mad Hatter were excellent and they are all very proud of their work as is Mr Collins. Big well done Primary 2B.
This Week In P7a
This week P7a have been getting into the festive spirit, by completing some Christmas STEM challenges.
In numeracy we’ve consolidated our understanding of volume, by using V =L x W x H, and using algebra to solve problems involving unknown measurements.
We’ve collaborated well in our reciprocal reading groups, and our developing our inference, summary and visualisation skills.
P4b
We have been learning about number patterns and linking this to multiplication tables. Maisie
We learned them in a fun way – no more nursery rhymes, only number rhymes! Drew
We started an Enterprise project this week. Rylie
We wrote a letter to Miss Davidson to ask for her support in loaning us some money. Ya Ya
We have planned what we want to do and started making items. Sara
Some of us had the idea to start this after our showcase. Sherry
More people got involved and our little group became bigger. Lily
Mrs Wightman helped us to organise into smaller groups to have different roles that would help us be successful. Sara
We will transfer our literacy and numeracy skills to do this, for example measuring ingredients, working out cost, writing letters and making posters. Drew
Primary 3b
Primary 3 have been working hard this week.
We have been measuring in both centimetres and metres in maths lessons. We have also been using arrays and grouping to calculate multiplication equations.
We have looked at the bones in a human skeleton and labelled them. We also drew an eye, focussing on shading in our art lesson. They all turned out really well.
We have been continuing with our PATHS lessons and are beginning to practice using our calming down strategies when feelings are strong.
As a class we have identified that we are not great at listening. So we will be focussing on listening skills. We have already established what a good listener looks like and will be putting that into practice next week.
P4b
Another wonderful week in P4b!
We have been learning about perimeter by using measurements and adding them together. Daniel
We have also been learning how to find the area of a shape. We used cubes to help us measure in squared centimetres. Rylie
We used trundle wheels to measure the school corridor after we estimated the distance using strides. Charlie
We know when to spell using soft g – if there’s an i, an e or a y! Poppy
In the playroom I was exhausted being a surgeon. Allan
P5b
P5b have been working very hard to improve our story plans and write an interesting opening paragraph. The spelling test results are improving with many pupils achieving full marks. We are now learning about division and developing different strategies to complete the division problems.
We are having some coaching in PE about fitness and cooperation . We all enjoyed the session.
This Week in P7a
P7a have been tearing up the playground with our toe-tapping, rug cutting, Scottish country dancing. We’ve perfected The Gay Gordon’s and are working on The Canadian Barn Dance.
In numeracy and maths we’ve created models of 3d shape and shapes, as well as comparing fractions.
We’ve also researched and prepared non-ficton reports, learned about remembrance and created some art in the style of Yayoi Kusama.
P2B superheroes
This week P2B have been exploring energy and character description through our interdisciplinary learning theme of super heroes. The pupils designed their own hero and wrote a description of their character. They also experimented with moving paper with static electricity and later in class discovered how we generate electricity from green energy sources. Next week we will be making simple circuits to create light

We got very competitive showing Miss Stevenson the badminton skills we have been practising at Springburn Leisure Centre, with a very high energy game of around the world.
We have been doing some more film literacy this week, looking at camera angles and showed great understanding of how these can impact the viewer.
We have looked at the structure needed in report writing and will continue to do more work on this next week.
In Maths we have been working on multiplication and have been making great progress with this. We even managed to do some problem solving activities.
We have been continuing to work on our study skill sin PATHS and have identified things that distract us in class and have committed to trying to reduce these together as a team.
