Free Online Session for Kinship Carers: Growing Up is Never Easy (26th February)

Dear Families,

Please see the link below for a free online session looking at Growing Up Is Never Easy (For Kinship Carers) on Wednesday 26th February 10-11am. This sessions can help kinship carers understand and positively manage the journey from child to adult that the Young People in their lives are undertaking. This online session ‘Growing Up is Never Easy’ is especially for kinship carers of young people.

After the session, kinship carers will be able to:

  • Say you have a better understanding of the stages young people go through as they move through their teenage years
  • See clearer what your role is when it comes to managing these stages
  • Give Young People the support they need during their teens

P5a science centre trip

P5 had a great day at the science centre! We started off with a show in the planetarium which was brilliant, then spent our time exploring all the exciting things in the science mall,  ending with taking a short walk along the river to see the old boats before heading back to school. What great day out!

P5a

We have had a busy couple of weeks to start off the new term. In maths we have begun a unit on fractions , whilst in literacy we have been working hard on our reading skills through our new books. We have also been learning all about Scotland, and were able to use this knowledge in our discussion writing to present a balanced argument of all the good and bad things about Scotland to help people from other counties decide whether to visit.
Creative enquiry this block is exploring sound and light and we had our first session trying out some of the stations.  We have been busy choosing songs and a dance for our showcase next month and have had fun creating some lovely artwork too.

P5a End of term round up

What a busy final week of term we have had in p5! We have been consolidating our learning in maths through games.

We had lots of fun at our Christmas party, and we have been very busy preparing for our p5 enterprise, where groups have run a small business, making products to sell. We held our enterprise on Thursday afternoon, just between the 2 p5 classes and it was a huge success, where children have raised approximately £160! We would like to thank you all for your support in making this venture such a success!
The children all had lots of fun working on their team enterprise and showed fantastic teamwork and communication. Well done p5!

Merry Christmas and Happy holidays!
P5a and Mrs Mair
