Glasgow 850

P4a had a fantastic day celebrating Glasgow’s 850th year!
We wrote acrostic poems, sang famous Glasgow songs, and enjoyed a classic jeely piece!
Have a read of some of our brilliant poems about our amazing city.

P4a Weekly Update

We’ve had another fantastic week in P4a. In maths, we explored probability and reinforced our times tables through active learning stations. In literacy, we learned all about the features of non-fiction books. We practised our note-taking skills to help us gather key facts and organise information. Then, we used our notes to plan and create our very own non-fiction books. We worked incredibly hard and felt so proud of our finished pieces! We’re hoping to add them to our school library so others can enjoy reading them too. We also had our final football session this week and took part in a friendly tournament. It was a great chance to show off our new skills and demonstrate brilliant teamwork and sportsmanship.

Have a lovely long weekend,
Miss Maclennan and P4a

Last week in P4a

This week, we rounded off our Viking topic by creating amazing non-chronological reports. We also worked in pairs to complete a Viking quiz and made our own Viking artifacts out of clay. We have learned so much!
In PE, we had another fun football session, focusing on controlled dribbling and passing.
In maths, we explored tessellation and enjoyed taking part in active stations. We also did a maths-themed Easter egg hunt, which was a fun way to apply our learning!
The children have worked incredibly hard this term, and I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter holiday. Miss Maclennan and P4a

P4a Update

It has been a busy and exciting couple of weeks in P4a! In writing, we have been creating engaging non-chronological reports, developing our research and writing skills. We have been focused on using connectives and different openers to make our writing even more interesting.
In maths, we’ve been exploring 2D and 3D shapes while continuing our work on fractions.
During PE, we’ve been lucky to have a football coach helping us develop new skills.    As part of our Viking topic, we have advertised Viking longhouses and learned about the Battle of Largs. We even wrote diary entries from the perspective of Scots preparing for battle.
We have also had the chance to visit our lovely library and choose some new books to enjoy!

Parents Evening Update – March 2025

Thank you to all of our families who attended our Parents Evening over the last couple of weeks. It was lovely to see so many of you.

We value the experience to meet with families to discuss pupil progress and next steps in learning. If for any reason you were unable to attend your scheduled appointment, please contact the school to arrange a mutually suitable time to meet with your child’s Class Teacher.

Thank you also to everyone who engaged in our Family Learning Consultation. 95% of families who participate felt that they would benefit from a Family Learning website, that demonstrates ways in which parents/carers can engage in learning with their children. As a result of this feedback we have started to create our bespoke website that we plan to launch in Term 4 of this session.
